Carnauba?

waxes that will not break the bank and look nice..My selection would be Carnauba Moose...collinite 915..855..476s.....Finish Kare pink wax or FK1000 (more of a paste sealant wax)..Meg's 16....Meg's 26 paste....one grand Blitz wax...all are nice lookers and pretty durable....most can be had for under 20.00......

Lighter/brighter colors: S100

Darker colors: Meg's 26

Both are ~$15. Hard to go wrong with either. Both are easy to use.

You can use Opti-Seal or Optimum Car Wax to buff off Carnauba Moose?
OCW can be used to buff off the haze from CMW.

My vote for a nice but inexpensive wax is Carnauba Moose Wax. There have been a lot of good candidates mentioned here so my next choice would be Collinite 476 or 885 (the same as 476 in a different can). OK, if you were from Canada my second choice would be Meg's #16, but it's a little bit expensive to just get one tin shipped down from eShine.

Sorry, wasn't too clear. OCW to buff off CMW. Apply CMW, allow to haze, lightly spritz with OCW, spread and wipe off.

Thanks everyone. In what situation would you prefer to use the carnauba instead of a sealant or synthetic wax?
Sealers you can usually let go a little longer than a carnauba, and some of the newer sealants look pretty darn good; Z-5 Pro, UPGP, Opti-Seal, etc.. If I'm going to have the time to maintain a carnauba then I'll put that on a dark or red color for the special look (depth) that only a carnauba can provide. It's just something you'll have to try.

The different carnauba waxes mentioned in this thread all have a slight or not so slight different look depending on your eyes, color of the car etc.. A carnauba wax is just something you'll have to use to see how you like it. Try it over a glaze, try it by itself, top a sealer with it..... just try it, that's the only way you'll find out if a wax has the look you want.

Scottwax - what would be your suggestion of those mentioned that stand up best to our Texas summers?

Carnauba Moose is my go to wax, winter, spring, summer or fall. On my own vehicle and some of my customer's cars (the ones willing to pay for it :secret ), a week after applying CMW, I wash the car and then put two quick layers of Opti-Seal on top.

I most cases, I flat like the look of a carnauba better. Plus, while sealants may be more durable (longer lasting), my experience has been that carnaubas protect the paint better.

Usually when it comes to dark color cars I will use carnauba wax for that extra depth and wetness. For liquid carnauba wax I will also suggest CMW and I do the same way as Scottwax but the difference is I buff off the haze with Carnauba Jett instead of OCW.

Some good info in this thread. How do you deal w/ decaying 'nubas? Do you just top off?

I plan on layering over sealants and finishing w/ AW if that matters.

I refresh carnaubas all the time, generally works fine. I usually clay with Sonus green Ultra-fine if the previous waxing is really dead or if I suspect things aren't 100% clean.

Souveran is one wax where I *do* like to clean things off and start fresh fairly often. For some reason it just works out better for me with that wax on that car (the ss lacquer Jag).
