Carnauba over Sealant decreases durability?

I like the way carnaubas look but don't want to sacrifice the durability sealants offer and I almost always top sealants because of this. However I have read a few posts claiming that topping a sealant can decrease it's durability. Has anyone here noticed this? It seems unlikely since the sealant has already bonded to the paint and a good carnauba shouldn't have heavy solvents in it to eat the sealant away. Any thoughts or observations on this?

I don't know how topping a Sealant with anything would decrease it's durability unless the topper had some sort of cleaner in it or unless it was some sort of old school wax that required you to use a sledge hammer to remove. A quality carnauba will add durability to the sealant. You'll be fine.
 
I agree with danase. As long as the sealant is FULLY cured, it shouldn't decrease the durability.



Also just as long as the wax is a pure wax and doesn't contain cleaners. A sealant will bond to the paint. A wax just sits on top. So the wax shouldn't interfere.
 
The only downside of this type that I've experienced is that many (most?) waxes can leave "dead wax artifacts" behind after the end of their useful life. So it's not *always* as simple as just reapplying the wax to bring things back to "just-waxed" condition. A very gentle claying with some ultra-fine clay might clean off those artifacts without compromising the sealant, assuming you've heavily layered that sealant.
 
IMHO, You are suppose to apply sealant first. Let it cure for 12 hours. Then apply carnuba wax. When applying Carnuba, you don't have to let it sit like sealant, just simply put it on and the wife off. GL!

That really depends on the products though. You have sealants that sure instantly and waxes that need to haze first still.
 
I put a nuba over three cured coats of UPGP and then I rotate putting down layers of each every few weeks. After three coats of UPGP I put a nuba on the next wash, I just do UPGP because it is quick and easy a few weeks later, then a nuba a few weeks later, then back to UPGP, etc.



Works great. The thing with UPGP is you can put anything on it or under it with no prob.



This process looks awesome on jet black.
