Carnauba Based Quick Detailer?

Can someone recommend a good quality, non sealant based quick detailer to use on top of 845? Slickness and water beading are critical.

x2 on Griot's Garage Speed Shine for carnauba based, although from what I have been told, the actual carnauba content is less than 1%. It works great over carnauba LSP's regardless.

Pinnacle's Crystal Mist is the only one that I have used, and had good results.

+1. This would be an excellent choice. Very nice stuff.

One other is the 1Grand product called Show Off. It's extremely rich in the carnauba dept and can be a bit of work...almost to the point where it was more than I wanted. It was approaching a complete carnauba wax job when that wasn't what I was seeking in a QD type of product. Fine stuff, otherwise. Very rich.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I have a decision to make. I like the idea of FK425 and its anti-static properties.

Well...far be it from me to dissuade anybody from trying FK425 (it really *is* one of those gotta-try-it products IMO), but I never notice much anti-static effect :nixweiss

That's one reason why I've gone back to the SpeedShine, it's utterly Accumulator-proof and I don't want to suddenly have an unexpected project on my hands when I'm trying to do a quickie QD step after a wash.

Huh, that must be 1% of some pretty good wax then! Heh heh, I always think of you when discussions turn to QDs, and I'm *still* using up that EF Clear Pearl of mine.. that's sorta turning into a shelf-life test :o

I think there is a lot of confusion as to what exactly is meant by "anti-static" regarding FK425 (or any other anti-static products from FK for that matter).

How are you interpreting it?

The way I understand it is that these products simply do not *attract* dust, or cause static like other products can. No product can actually *repel* dust, and I think that is where a lot of people get confused.

The anti-static effect of 425 is, of course, much more noticeable when used over an LSP that is known to have static problems. Most of the sealants I have used don't really have static problems. Waxes, OTOH, can vary from "attracts a little" to "where's my car, there's a pile of sand here". Unfortunately, it seems like the higher the carnauba content, the higher the static problem. Vintage is the *worst*. It attracts dust from the whole neighborhood. A light application of 425 stops the dust suckage immediately.

Bingo!

Heh heh, my dust-attracting, FK425ed MPV once prompted some wit here to suggest that I "applied it backwards" :chuckle:

That's over KSG too :nixweiss

If I end up with more product than I started with, I know I applied it backwards. Happens sometimes when I'm not paying attention.
