Caring for new paint??

hopefully this is in the correct forum. My car is going in for a full repaint in a couple weeks, and im hoping to get some information on caring for the paint once i get it back. Are there any precautions i should take during the first 6-8 weeks?? It will be garaged half of the time probably, and a car cover the rest of the time, but other than that, any tips? thanks guys, i appreciate it!

Hi welcome to Autopia. :welcome

I saw your 300zx in your Bragging Room thread - very nice! :) Why are you getting it repainted???

Ask the painter when is the soonest you can wax it. Usually it's a month or two, but follow his suggestion for liability's sake. In the meantime you can just glaze it.

Don't forget about the Learn! button above, the Autopia eBook, and the ultra-valuable Search feature. Do a Title search for "new paint" and you should come up with dozens (hundreds?) of people asking this exact same question!

Thanks! :) as for the repaint, well, it probably doesnt NEED to be done, but something i want done. I am putting a new hood and spoiler on, as well as shaving off the antenna and rear wiper. The front fascia also needs some touch up work, and the center panel between the headlights is actually a different shade yellow, as it was painted at a later time than the car originally was. That plus some other scratches, dings, etc. I would rather just repaint the entire car rather than have him try to blend all the panels together for the new parts, which would be close to a full repaint anyway with all the work being done.
