Carbon Fibre Exhaust Muffler

Can anyone recommend the best thing to clean a carbon fibre exhaust muffler?



I've got the tailpipe looking fabulous now, but I'm unsure what's going to be the best way to get the muffler looking it's best.



This is what is should look like. Mine has a tailpipe which looks like this but the rest is pretty grubby looking. (Oh and mine's hanging underneath a Supra!!)

Is your carbon fibre laquered? Most is if so, wash with car soap, Autoglym engine and machine cleaner, polish and wax.

I'm not shure wax would hold up, would it?

It will look good at shows etc, but yes not sure how long it would hold up. I mostly do bike end cans to be honest and wax them with what I am using when waxing the bike - it only takes an extra min or so and looks good.



On Stainless exhausts, I use metal polish, AG Super Resin and EGP, which seems to hold up well, so the AG twins or Klasse Twins would also work on Carbon Fibre.

Quite right. It's just the backbox which is CF.



It's rather a noisy little beast as well. Makes a lovely noise!



Thanks for the cleaning advice. I've got some AG Super Resin and EGP, and I've been using Autosol metal polish. I shall get some polish on it next time i clean the car.



Once I've got it looking nice I'll post some picture up.

What's probably more pointless is that the tailpipe is made out of Titanium!



If I'm be honest if I'd bought the exhaust I would have just got a stainless steel one but this one came with the car and it sounds just fantastic. (A friend described my car as sounding like a powerboat!)

I've got the titanium tailpipe looking good. Next is to get the CF looking nice. (And then get some better pictures)



Process on the tailpipe was:



Wash

Autosol Metal Polish

AG SRP

AG EGP
