Car Vandalize, Possible to Fix?

Hi Everyone,

My GF's car was vandalized the other day. Someone used what looked like a permanent marker and drew a line across her passenger side(see attached). She googled ways to get rid of the markings, but there are stains still on the car that wouldn't come off. I recommended her to get a detail from a professional since her car probably needs one. Would they be able to take it off? If so, any recommendations? Located in SoCal LA/Pasadena.

Have you considered writing it over with ink from a NON-Permanent Marker? works everytime on a whiteboard, may work.
 
I would certainly take a shot at it with polish. There might be some sort of solvent that would help, too.
 
I would clay, then hit it (carefully) with a light compound - maybe Megs Ultimate Compound - polish and LSP. Certainly worth a try.

Thanks for the reply guys. I tried hitting it with a clay bar and a rubbing compound by hand, but it still won't come off.
 
As crazy as this sounds have you tried liquid carnauba wax? The natural oils wetting agents gave been shown to remove spray paint. This is a little different but I felt worth mentioning.


Sorry about the vandalism. Vandalism and it being a car just strikes a different extreme kind of angry/sad nerve to me!
 
Does she have comprehensive insurance coverage on her vehicle? If so, check how low the deductible is and see if it's worthwhile to turn in a claim.
