Car Lifts/rack for fixed locations

If you where going to get a lift--what type would you get--I need this for storage almost as bad as just lifting a car. The two post gives me the creeps a little with parking customer cars under each other-- But the 4 post would be a pia to work around-but has a drip pan--if you all have experience with one or the other--give me your thoughts
 
I would go with the 4 post. Even though it takes up more space, it'll work a lot better. There's a local muffler shop owner who has one of each, and he's spent less money maintaining the 4 post. And it is sturdier.
 
If your using the lift to detail both of those would be a PIA to use. Don't worry about the single post not being able to support the weight. Its not an issue.
 
I have used both types extensively. Both have their pros and cons. The 4 post is a pain in the butt when doing most things that require having tires removed. It also has some of the same limitations that working on the ground has when working on rocker panels etc. On the other hand it's great to just drive on and lift. The 2 post can be a pain when you have to crawl under and set the jacks each time you lift a car. If I were going to park a car under one in the air I would choose the 4 post lift. It will give you a little more head room as it lifts from the tire instead of the frame. If I were looking for the all around most universal lift I would choose the 2 post (in fact I'm building a new home and have chosen a 2 post Rotary lift). Ultimately the 2 post makes it easier to get to all under car access points. I hate doing exhaust work on a 4 post lift, too much area covered when using long pipe and a 2 post will let the axles hang which in effect opens up the under body. I will use mine both for detailing and auto repair and I feel it is the best all around choice. If you were doing alignments the 4 post would be a much better choice.
