Well the passat just got new paint a few months back, and finally it has been wetsanded and buffed. But what remains are the swirl marks and the polish hue.

What are the proper procedures for detailing the car this weekend? Polish? Wax? Im not sure of them, and my only resources here in SLO are Kragen and Autozone. So Im assuming MOTHERS and MEGUIARS are my only options.

Words of wisdom appreciated!

You have to make sure you only use "Body Shop Safe" products, unless you're sure your paint has already cured.

It has fully cured. It got painted about 4 months ago, and just wednesday finally got wetsanded and buffed. (Friend of mine's paint shop).

Man I highly suggest you get some GOOD polishes. I work with a painter and do alot of his finishing and up keep on his customers vehicles. The autozone store bought won't help ya. Normally you probably have swirls and micromirroring from not finishing with a light polish. I suggest getting SFX-2 and SFX-3 with pads to smooth out cc to get perfect paint and shine. You shouldn't need SFX-1 unless you have "white" marks with little scratches in them. That's from rubbing compoundvor 1500 sandpaper .

After you do that I highly suggest using AIO then SG to add protection. Of course a 100% carnuba without cleaners. I would use SFX-3 or a light finish polish twice a year to keep cc fresh.

This is the most important time to get the best shine out of your paint. because if there's going to be alot more scratches and swirls later down the road.

Yeah, I wouldn't settle for less-than-optimal products. Maybe look for an autobody/paint supply place and see what they have (3M, Pro, Meg's Pro line, etc.). You'll need a mild abrasive for the swirls, don't just get something with a load of fillers. Most any good LSP oughta work fine.

This paint and body store by me in my little town sells a good 3m glaze that works great for bringing out luster after using a rubbing compound. of course it has alot of fillers. I know at my local store they have Meg's Pro products. Get some DACP and #83 Cleaner/Polish or is it #80?. Anyways you get what I mean. Get them out of that great looking paint job and get some pics UP!!!!!!!!!!!
