car bra reccomendations

Well, jsut got my front end painted and want to protect it from rocks, chips, etc. It's a dark blue paint. I priced a clear bra and wow, they are expnsive for the bumber, part hood treatment. Any reccomendations for conventional bras? Where to shop, look? If I should consider something else? Thanks.
 
how much was the quote? Go to an installer and tell them to quote you. It could be cheaper than checking online for the templates only. The place that I went, he had a ploter that would cut the template right there, so he had the material by the bulk, and so it was cheaper to have him install it than me ordering the templates and having someone else do it. The material was XPel, its worked out great so far. I payed 500$ for full front bumper, hood, side view mirrors, head lamps, rear bumper(top area) and gas tank area.



The main problem is that you need an expert to mount you that bra. Mine didnt came out perfect, some borders are sticking out, so dirt got traped inside. Ill have to have the front bumper redone.



PS. make sure you clay the car before taking it to any installer. They might be as clueless about clay as the guy I took mine to.
 
Yep, they can be... I have ARMORGLOVE on my Lexus SC430 and it's the best investment made! It's on the front bumper, headlights, fender "wings", hood (wrapped under edges), rocker panels, side mirrors and door cups. Cost was $1000. including labor as this is nothing to play with unless you do it for a living as special tools and talent are required.

Armorglove does all the high-end cars in our area, so after looking at X-PEL, STONEGUARD etc, I went to ARMORGLOVE as they had beetter material and better experience.

I'm sure it is worth it. I got quoted 400 for the bumper, and another 200 for the leading edge of the hood. I just can;t shell out 600 right now. Just got my car back from the body shop and had to pay a 1k deductable there. I ran a read light while at lunch. I was having a bad work day, had some bad meetings. Wasn't paying attention. that's why I'm not considering a bra. I have one on my wife's car but it's light silver so it does not show all the little markes that the bra can potentially put in the finish.
 
I've had three Colgan bra's for my 1993 300ZX and have not had any problems. Cost is minimal at around $100.00 each.



I do take a few steps to assure I don't have problems. I take it off the car weekly, vacuum the flannel backer and clean off any dirt/dust on the car that has found its way under the bra. I don't let the car set outside with the bra on for any length of time and I remove it immediately to dry if it gets wet. If it does get damp, don't put it back on the car until it is completely dry.



8+ years and still a fan.

i just got a colgan custom.....100% quality product...i will try and put pics up ( they only down thing is generic, vague instructions however the quality of the product is unreal):bow
