canopy that works. dont get the ezup

I wrote in a review for the ez up canopy 12x12 size. It was a great idea to use the canopy and was very easy to move around. The worst problem is the quality of the "sierra" model brand. I broke 2 in about 2 weeks, they just make them very cheap. Right where it scissors the metal keeps snapping there, and I thought it was a defect at first. I brought it back and the same thing happened again! I read all the instructions and followed them and still no luck. Anyone know where I can get a decent 12z12 or bigger that I can put up by myself , but will last as well?
 
My aunt and uncle participate in a local Farmer's Market three time per week, and all of the vendors there, including my aunt and uncle, use EZups. Now that I've helped all of them either put up or take down their tents at one time or another, I have noticed that all EZups are not created equally. Some are very thin and cheap feeling. Those are usually the ones that are hard to manuever, and there are some that are extremely well made with nice thick tubing, thick canopy, and it opens and closes with ease.



I think you are on the right track, just not looking at the right ones.
 
i agree. the $100 ezups bought at walmart are not even close to the $300-400 canopies. I'm actually looking for one now since I go to homes but sometimes don't have the luxury of shade.
 
Definitly agree with the different qualities of these tents. The one I have is called Quick shade. I bought it for a little over $100 a couple of years ago. Keep in mind, when they say 10x10 or whatever, make sure it is a 10x10. Mine was listed as a 10x10, but I later found out that the feet were 10x10, the actual canopy is like 8x8.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. I only bring it out a couple of times a year when I'm battling the sun. I'm able to do it myself, just takes a little time. The structure is pretty solid, but the canopy is not as thick as I'd like it. I did have it out during a thunderstorm and was able to stay dry standing under it.

Another thumbs down for the 12x12 "Sierra" model. Used mine for the first time last night and the quality of the folding pieces is not good. I popped one of the brackets when trying to fold it down. :bawling: I've still got my receipt, but I'm going to have to sweet-talk the store during the return since it's been just over a month since I bought it.



Next time, I'm definitely going with something in the $300 range for better quality.

Could this be the problem in your use of the shade? I don't think any of the EZups are meant to be put up by one person. My instructions say 2 people should do it and I can see why. There is just too much pulling and bending that can happen if one person tries it. I have done it one time and realized I'd probably pop a rivet or something if I wasn't extremely careful. I can take it down by myself easily.



I've used my Sierra 12x12 EZ-up probably 30 or more times. Granted, the quality of it's construction does not compare to EZups professional grade canopies but for what I paid for it, I've been very happy.



For one person erection, you can get a $35 canopy from Wal-marts. However, it takes about 10 minutes of putting pvc tubing together and then stretching the fabric over the top. But, the frame will last a lifetime.

I got one similar to this at Harbor Freight. On sale it was only $24.99. It is sorta of a pain to put up all the tubing but once up its very sturdy.
 
That ole saying " You get what you pay for " comes to mind. The brand name E-Z UP are quality canpoies . They aren't cheap , BJ's has 10x10 for $178 make sure you buy the straight leg version that why you know for sure your getting a 10x10.

This is exactly like the sierra model we use and im sure its decent being used every now and then but they do not last daily.
 
I have a 10x10 EZ-UP Express II that I bought on ebay for $200 withh bag, wheels,, 3 side curtains, stakes, and sand bags! It is the best $200 I've ever spent! I use it all the time in the backyard, at car shows, dog shows, even a couple of times at the beach. This thing is made of heavy powder coated aluminum and sets up in less than five minutes by myself. It comes down in less than two. In the four yrs I've had it it has never failed me and only now I'm considering replacing the canopy because of a couple of minor pin holes.
 
anyone know where i can get these things locally for sale? I tried bjs and walmart, but they have only 10x10. I may actually buy 2 10x10 but that maybe overkill!

All Ford Carlisle 2004, POURED rain all day, nice dry engine though! :clap:
