This week in the northeast pa the weather is not going my way so well. Heres the problem. I have a appt for tommorow and there is a 40-50 percent chance of showers all day. The appt takes about 45 minutes to get to, and i dont want to go and then have it rain. The previous appt last week I got kicked out by security because you cant work in this development on sunday. So now tommorow it looks like rain, but im unsure. I would wait to see what tommorow brings, but i can always book another job inside etc.

I feel your pain Rich. The weather drives me crazy too.

As much as it will put a burden on your scheduling, I think it would be best to re-schedule.

A. You will be traveling 45 minutes. (Gas)

B. Your time. (preparing for the customer as far as setting up your trailer, hitching it, getting some supplies you may need, getting gas, driving to the location, etc.)

C. Your sanity. Imagine doing all of that and it wasn't raining at the time, then you get to the customer's house and it starts pouring! :furious:

Reschedule.

I am dealing with the same BS right now up in CT with all of this rain.

If there is a 50+% chance of rain 24 hours before, I call to reschedule.

You would be smart to wait until the very last minute before you cancel an appointment due to a chance of rain. Get up an extra hour earlier the morning of the appointment and check the weather radar on your computer. Access the situation and get a good idea of what the weather will be during the hours you will be doing the detailing. Only then, with the absolute latest weather information should you take responsibility to cancel an appointment.

I call the customer and ask what they'd prefer to do. More often than not, if it is a detail and they've already waited 3-4 days for the appointment and they have a dry place for you to work they want the detail done and will just use another vehicle until the weather is dryer.

Give them a call and say "There is a ___% chance of rain tomorrow, would you still like to have your car detailed or do you prefer to wait until the weather is better? I can work in you in ___days if you want to wait".

I wait until it's actually raining before I cancel a detail and I only do it that morning. The weather is so unpredictable that I can't cancel because of a weather prediction. I've seen 100% chance of rain turn in to partly cloudy and a missed day of work for no reason.
