Canadians check this out

I found Carcaresmart.com webpage while surfing. Carcaresmart.com is a company which supplies the good stuff to those in the Great White North: Klasse, AG, P21s, soon 1z, MF's, and other detailing items. Sorry, they only ship within Canada. The company is located in Burnaby BC.

Thanks for the info.....some of these products are difficult to find up here and extremely expensive to order out of the US.

:xyxthumbs

I've ordered Klasse products from these people - no customs/duty charges, no provincial tax to pay here in Toronto !!!

They were very prompt with the order and even followed up via email to ensure that all was to my satisfaction.

I would recommend them based on my experience.

I won some MF towels in thier contest .. not to bad .. middle of the road ones. Klasse ans P21S are expensive. But the alternate is worse.

Unfortunately, even for us Vancouver residents who have the options of no shipping, their price for Klasse is about the same as buying from the cheapest online vendors like Klassedirect. :(

dpaulyn,

If you order from a US based web site ask them to mail your order as a gift. You will avoid Canadian sales tax and duties this way. Also never have it shipped by UPS, these clowns charge insane brokerage fees to clear your package through customs. Ask for your order to be shipped USPS.

You sure that works??? :hm

C-MDX,

My last two Pack Shak orders were done that way. Package was dropped off at the door, no tax, no duties, and no brokerage fees. All I payed was the cost of the order and shipping.

Nice :lol

Well - I had received product marked 'gift' from out of Canada on-line providers (from Japan) and was shipped via Purolator (Canada Post). It came directly to my door with no apparent customs/duties/taxes - the only surcharge was to my credit card for currency conversion from U.S.A dollars to Canada dollars.

This was during Christmas rush, so perhaps they were cutting corners . . .

My only concern is that I had heard that brokerage fees and customs/tax charges sometimes are sent separately, and you get dinged for a small fortune - sometimes two/three months down the road.

Anyone with recent experience to share regarding on-line ordering from Canada?

Thanks

I have ordered numerous times out of the US .. UPS is a killer with thier standard $16 duty surcharge .. Canada Post will collect duty if the value is $20 US or more ... The "gift" thing might work untill someone notices the sender is a business. Just about anything can be sent USPS as long as it isn't an aresol. And a lot of the US vendors are clueing in to the Canadian needs. So check pricing carefully.

Example a PC from Coastal Tool is $119 c/w backing plate. Up here the best I have found was $229 and the plate was $30 so basically $260.

With shipping and duty/taxes the US one comes to less than what we pay for the PC alone up here then we still have PST/GST and shipping.

dpaulyn,

I have never been dinged for any charges 2 or 3 months down the road. Before I started having my orders shipped as gifts and by USPS, any extra charges were payable at the door before I could take delivery.

jesstzn,

Even if someone notices it was sent by a business so what, it is still a gift. I haven't had a problem yet and I have done this about 10 times now.

*hand going up*

I got dinged 1 month down the road. Vendor used UPS. $11 brokerage for $30 worth of product. I was not happy. The gift and value below $20 US is correct. I got my JT towels duty free that way.

2wheelsx2,

Your $11 brokerage fee for $30 worth of product are the insane fees I was talking about. I only use USPS now. Most vendors will ship USPS for you, if they refuse don't order from them. I had one vendor refuse to use USPS because they didn't want to make the trip to the post office. The guy told me UPS comes to his place of business and picks up the orders to be shipped so he only uses them. I placed my order with a different vendor.:sosad

My last order from PakShak was over $90 USD. It was shipped as a gift and by USPS. It was delivered to my door with no duties or sales tax owing. This is my second order from PakShak this way.

Guys

Be very careful about posting this type of information in an open forum. Keep it to Private PMs.

It's great that Pakshak is willing to do that for us but ....

Yeah I agree with what Paco said....

The rules are all here with some examples:

http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/customs/business/importing/courier/postal/ind_dutiable-e.html

http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/customs/business/importing/courier/postal/ind_duty_free-e.html (Please note the last clear bullet at the very bottom of this page!!!)

If you order anything worth over $60, the difference is going to be charged duty even if it's a "gift". Sometimes they're not consistent about following these rules I think though...

UPS is the only one with really crazy brokerage rates. Canada Post doesn't use a broker, so it (supposedly) takes longer, but you don't get charged either.

If you live near the UPS distrubution center (usually near an airport) there's a procedure for you to do the paperwork yourself and save the brokerage fee. Might be handy for those orders where you have to use UPS. :down

Canada post may not charge the broker fees but they can and do charge the duty payable based on the order value. I just wish I would have kept the paper work I would have scaned and posted it here. $9 charged on a $20 USD order from CMA. And yes .. lets keep the vendors names out of the forums .. we don't want them charged with postal fraud for doing us a favour.

Just a heads up to all canadians to check out www.rule number 6 : no spam allowed

We will be opening in the spring selling all your fav. products not found in Canada or if offered it is to expensive.

Our pricing will be right in line with buying from the US...without the brokerage and shipping added on to it, which you do not pay because it is coming from Canada.

Customers from the US are welcome as well
