The 7424 in on sale at Canadian Tire for $174.00 Cdn.

Based on Lowes $109 USD price using a 1.60 conversion makes this a pretty good deal ($174 and no shipping charge)

Only problem is the 5" pad counter weight that is included.

I called one store and they put me onto Delta Tool here in Calgary.

The 6" pad counter weight can be orderd for $3.59.

If you are in a different city you basicaly need to find out who does the Porter Cable warrenty work in your area and you should be able to get the pads from them.

Interesting to note that the Delta Tool rep couldn't even price me out a demo model for under $180 so the Crappy Tire price is quite good.

Now I just need a source for the velcro backing pad - I wil post a source if I find one but I am going to start back at Delta.:xyxthumbs
 
Cool, thanks, Deemo. I thought (from a previous thread from 99ESMAX) that the sale starts on May 25. I am going to get one this weekend!!! Woohoo!!!



You might want to search for 99ESMAX's thread. He had the backing plate as part of a Canadian group buy deal. Good prices on the pads too. But no backing plate. I am pretty sure you can get the counter weight at Home Depot, but I am going to check with them as soon as I get the PC.
 
If anyone wants Meguiar's velcro backing pads/plates, let me know. I'll help out fellow Canadians (former Albertan!). There's a detailing shop nearby my house that stock these and I can pick these up and ship them to anyone who can't find them in their area.

In Ontario there is a UAP subsidiary called "CMAX" which for all intents and purposes are Autobody Suppliers. I picked up a Meguiar's Backing Plate through them......They ordered it in for me but the local store in fact ordered more so they would have some in stock. Try a BodyShop supplier if there's no CMAX out west.

I checked the yellow pages and ther is indeed a CMAX out here.

I will give them a shot today.

I also noticed in my Griots's catalog that the backing plate they use is just a Porter Cable part - squinting my eyes I even believe the part number is 18001 so I will call Delta tool today to see if that is an option.

Do you have a product number? Every time I go in there and ask for a certain tool, they can't find it. But as soon as I go in with a product number, they find it right away. Terrible warehousing....

Ya the part number would help.

The one with Griots is the 18001 and Delta Tool wanted $40.00 Cdn which is way too much in my opinion.

That is the one I am trying to get.

I may just oder from Meguiars as they have the W64DA, 2 8006 pads, and 1 9006 pad for $32.00 USD.

Not bad but not too sure how much shipping is.
 
Sorry guys, I don't know the part number for the PC 6" backing plate. I just checked the PC and coastal tool websites and I can't find the part. The Can Tire I go to here in TO has the backing plate stocked in the aisle. I didn't have to ask anyone there to look it up for me.



Next time I go I'll copy down the part number. I still haven't bought my PC yet either.

You're a lucky man. When I bought my PC this weekend, I asked the guy about the backing plate and the counterweight, he had no idea, and he didn't know how to look it up. I then went to Home Depot, and they can't custom order the counterweight. At least my local one couldn't. They pointed me to local PC service centers and I am going to try them next. I am going to get the pads in the Abay group buy set up by 99ESMAX.
 
The product number for the PC backing plate is 47-5949 at CTC. I do sell the W-64DA backing plate for $24.50 includes taxes. Shipping is paid by you. Fellow GTA Autopians, we can meet up at a neutral place and I can deliver it to you. You save on shipping. :) Did everyone get their PC's yet? Bill?

Max, I haven't bought mine yet. I haven't been to CT in quite a while. I need to find out if I can get my hands on the 6" counterweight b4 I waste my money on the 7424.



How long is your group buy on for?



Do you know when the PC sale at CT will end?

Bill, the PC7424 sale ends this Friday. Tip: Find a CT that has sold out on the 7424. Ask them for a raincheck which gives you up to one month to purchase the product. In the meantime, you can order your pads. You can get the counterweight from a local Porter Cable dealer in Missi. I'll PM you with the address. It's not a waste it is an investment in a PC7424. :) My GB has no time limit. Take your time and PM me when you are ready.
