Can you guys help!?

Im trying to figure up some pricing but im not to sure about it. Im not exactly sure what to charge becuase of my area and me being new. Here is what I have so far. Please critique it and you wont hurt my feelings.



Basic: $30 for cars, $40 trucks/vans/suvs

Hand wash, wheel wells, wheels and tires, clean outside windows, dress tires, vacuum interior, interior whipe down, clean interior windows, wipe down door jambs.



Engine Bay: $30



Middle Package: $60 for cars, $70 trucks/vans/suvs

Hand wash, wheel wells, wheels and tires, clean outside windows, dress tires, wax, aio on wheels/gass? vacuum interior, dress interior with protectant or detailer, clean interior windows, whipe down doorjambs, possible wax for doorjambs?



Full Detail? $80-120 for cars, $120-150 trucks/vans/suvs

Middle Package plus claybar, AIO like xmt360 or poli seal, maybe a filler glaze to keep cost down for some people, 2-3 step polish.





Help me out guys! Take away or add? To much or to little? Im very anal about what I do so I tend to be slow and spend alot of time on things.

Yeah, that seems really low.



I'd at least charge 90 for the mid package, not even including interior.
 
Figure out how long it takes you to do things. Then break it down into how much per hour you are charging. Good luck with the venture.
 
Ya I was thinking around 85 or 90 for the middle one becuase I do know my mom used to have hers done buy a guy that charged that much for that. Wether he was very thorough or not I dont know but thanks for the input! Keep em coming?



What about that first package?
 
Your first package is too low. For $30 I might hand wash and dry a car and maybe dress the tires but getting into the interior...not for $30.
 
I agree sounds low BUT, Rates vary greatly due to geography alone...



I would suggest calling some local detailers and getting some price package info. Ask alot of questions, methods, products etc....

I think about raising the prices but man I cant imagine to many people paying it unless they really understand or love there cars.
 
Sounds low. I detail for hobby and not business; however, I do own my own transportation business the last 16 years. Time = money. Most labor jobs in my area cost $25.00-$40.00 per hour depending on skill level. Simple washing and vacuum would probably fall on the lower side while claying and polishing would be on the higher side per hourly charge. Don't be afraid to charge what you think you are worth. If you think are worth more, the charge more.

Honestly, I see a few signs here (New Castle) for 'full details'. They run anywhere from $45-$120. Since we're both in depressed former factory towns within 20 miles of each other, I would think the rates would be similar. I did see a sign on 38 last week that advertised 'full interior / exterior details' for $25!



I (and my Dad) paid between $125-$150 in Indy for a full exterior - wash / clay /polish / sealant - on new cars recently.

Its good to hear you chime in. I hate how this place has taken a dump sence all the factories have shut down. Makes me feel like I have to charge less.
 
Any comments on how I should alter some of the packages for the current pricing or a different pricing?
 
More info needed. Are you bringing your own water and power? Are you setting up a canopy or are you working out in the open? Are they coming to you, or are you mobile? Are you licensed and insured? How long does a "Basic" take you (1hr? 2 hrs?)? Also, it's not easy to raise your prices once you have regular clients! Sometimes it's better to turn away some people rather than end up making no profit from the job. $30.00 in your pocket is not $30.00 profit.

They would be coming to me. Im not mobile. I have a full time job so this will be part time. I have my own house with a 2 car garage. Thats where I will be doing this. The basic may take me 1 hr to 1.5 hrs. I like to nit pick about things so im slow.
 
If you start too low, it will be that much harder to raise prices even slightly when your reputation for quality gets around. "But you only charged so and so $25!"
