Okay, I'm mainly a lurker. Learning a lot especially since I just got my PC DAP along with some 3M product & Poorboys SSR. My father in law's '04 Vette has serious paint issues and I need to fix 'em. No, I don't plan on making that my first "try" with the PC. I have a company car to practice on :D However, it is white & the Vette is black. I've read enough to get started with some hands on and hopefully will get comfortable enough to fix the Vette. I may be postin' a ton of "Noobie. Help Please!!!" posts after I screw up, but maybe not. Anyway...here's a few pics of the new Magnum RT that FINALLY got detailed on the first nice-weather day that I was off work. I realize there are other products and I'm a very open-minded fellow but its hard to argue with results like this...

Well, thanks everyone for teaching me so much. You don't realize that you have..but you have.

Looks Great!!!!

I say EX topped with Natty's. :D

EDIT: I'm a dork-didn't see everything. hehehe

Thanks. I simply LOVE this vehicle. Power and room for groceries. :D The wife picked up wood flooring for our modest sized great room today and could've fit a lot more.

I've ordered the Mopar/Borla exhaust but other than that not any plans. Waiting for a performance chip.

I really thought hard about the window decal...but decided against it.

Well if you can get black looking that good, I wouldn't worry about screwing up the Vette. Nice work!

What process did you follow (wash, clay, etc...).

What pads/speed did you use.

Thanks.
Pretty standard Zaino fare...

Day 1

1. light Dawn wash (not too much Dawn)
2. clay
3. Z7 wash
4. Z2 Pro x 2 with Z6 in between and last

Day 2

1. Z6
2. Z2 Pro x 2 with Z6 in between and last

that's about it. I really can't take the credit. The product makes the shine.

No DAP on the Magnum. Its fairly new and the paints in good shape.

The thing about the Vette I'm worried over is it is swirl/scratch marked ALL OVER. The owner treats the paint poorly. He loves his car but doesn't much care what it looks like. It goes fast and that's all he cares about. I have made the car look good in the past but, and I'll be honest, I'm sure I introduced MANY of the swirl/scratch marks. Meantime, I found out the other day that when he does wash its with Dawn and one of those washing brushes from AutoZone :wall -- I have about 5 or 6 days to practice with the DAP before the Vette's in my driveway. I won't do it if I don't feel comfortable by then but I'd like to give it a shot.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment.

See ya' around here...
