You make great points there Accumulator. I was planning on getting the repaint done at my BMW dealer, so I'm sure it would be high quality, but you are right in that it will prob not be the same as factory. I just located a "mobile touch-up" person in my area, so I may give him a shout and see what he thinks.

Be careful...make that "be downright suspicious!" of both those. FWIW, the body/paint guys, even the "detail" guys, at the BMW dealerships in my area would simply destroy any vehicle they got their hands on. Utterly unacceptable by my standards.

Yeah, I have work done at my Audi/Porsche dealership, but they're unusual (guys ship Porsches to them from Germany) and I gotta say that they're the *ONLY* dealership body/paint shop (out of quite a few I know of and I don't mean just a dozen ;) ) that do remotely decent work. And they seldom satisfy my the first time.

The mobile "touch up" guys are often referred to as "lot lizards" (yeah, like the hookers at truck stops) and for good reason. As with the dealership shops, sure there are some *VERY* good ones. But they're few and far between.

Oh sheesh, I'm just full of "uh-oh! don't do that!" advice here, huh?!? Just be cautious so you don't turn a paint chip problem into something much worse. Wish I had something more useful to say, but when I had some chips/issues on my Jag I was soooo leery of somebody messing it up that I waited about 20 years to get it fixed! Yep, took me that long to find a shop that I trusted, but I'm sure glad I took my time. During those 20 years I had countless cars painted/etc. and I gotta say that hardly any of them turned out to my complete satisfaction.
