Can I use foam pad that came with 7336?

I'm still waiting for my CMA shipment of buffing pads and waxes to come.

The 7336 came with a white polishing pad. Can I use it with FI-II to start the de-scratching process? I'm still 3/4 days away from delivery and I'd like to get started.

Thanks!

I have two of the PC foam pads. They work fine. Perhaps not as good as the CMA pads but fine none the less.

The are probably better for SMR/Glase applications as they do not have a lot of cut to them.

For light compounding I use the orange pads from CMA.

That white pad is OK but has almost no bite so its kind of a waste for swirl removal. Its best used for mild polishes and glazes. But try it if you want to. I bought a couple extra just to play with - nothing to write home about but they work.

does lowes sell the 7336 and 7336sp. i went to a lowes i only seen the 7336. i want to buy one but i want to use it right away.

My PC came from Lowe's and had the sanding backing plate and the foam polishing pad in the box. I don't remember if it was the 7336 or the 7336SP. It didn't have any wax with it, just the tool and pads.

I posted the 7336sp price from Lowes the other day. The Lowes here in Omaha has the 7336SP for 109.99. I also saw that if you go to Lowes.com and fill out the "new mover" information you will get a 10% off coupon in email for one time purchase use.

Actually the 7336 is really the one you want. Comes with the 6" counter weight. Just buy a PC 6" hook and loop plate and your ready to go.

Lowes here in Atlanta did not have them but a power tool place did and that's where I got the backing plate and 2 PC white pads. I did not want to wait either till my CMA pads came.

I actually sold on Ebay the original backing place (the one for sanding disks) for $7.50.

The white screw on pad that came with my Porter Cable from Lowe's has been used with Meguiar's #9, several times. It was hand washed after each use and still looks to be in very good shape. While I do use Meguiar's pads for most things, it is more a matter of convenience than it is concern about the quality of the Porter Cable pad. Mine has not proven to be junk at all. I wouldn't buy another one, but I certainly wouldn't trash the one you have. Using it for severely oxidized and neglected finishes lets me keep my Meguiar's pads for use with AIO, SEPC, and UPP.

I actually use my white pad with the backing plate that came with the PC for glass polishing. I use it with Z-12 so it is now dedicated to polishing glass.

One of my CMA pads finally got demoted after 1 and 1/2 years of faithful service (been through it all, recreational detailing and professional detailing (on weekends)) to metal polishing. It was still good, but I needed something to polish metal with so that pad was picked.

This might be off topic but about the pads, how are the CMA advanced pads?? I was thinking about getting the kit (like $70), but I have the 5 inch velco backing plate and 5 inch counter weight. Is this going to present a problem and are they of the same quality as the DM-KIT pads I got so long ago, I think they are made by Lake County Mfg.

Thanks,

Jason

IMHO, bigger isn't better as far as the new CMA pads are concerned. Even with a 6" counterweight on my PC, I noticed a dramatic increase in vibration with the larger pads.

I also found myself being unusually sloppy with the pads; running them over trim, etc. because I wasn't used to having an extra "overhang" on the buffer.

I bought a $1500 fridge from Lowes when I bought a new house last year. 10% off would have been sweet!! Oh well, life sucks, especially mine. :down

No, Mr. Bretfraz your life does not suck. Look in terms of what you have done for others and not what you have done for yourself. You infor has always been helpful.

While I have purchased a Meguiar's velcro system backing plate and some Meguair's pads, I still use the pad that came with my 7336 for Meguiar's #9 2.0 Swirl Remover. Seems to work OK for me. It may not be the best, but it isn't junk, either.

thanks were can iget auother one of those pad for now until i get the other ones. were meguiars velcro system from.

Stang:

My Meguiars velcro backing plate, I got locally. The pads, I purchased from Meguiar's directly.

If you buy the backing plate and pad package from Meguiar's, you get:

1- W-64DA Velcro backing plate

2- W-8006 Foam polishing pads

1- W-9006 Foam finishing pad

The price is about $33 plus $5.95 shipping.

Package part no. is WDAV99

It is not on their web-site, so you need to order it by phone.

800-545-3321

Be sure you tell them you want the pads and the backing plate.

Takes about 5 days to get them.

If you feel you need something right away, I would suggest trying a local auto body supply store.
