Can I use a storage unit for detail purposes?

I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge on the use of a large storage unit/garage as shop space. I recently moved to Chandler, AZ and am having trouble finding shop space and am considering trying this temporarily until I find something else. I have several high paying classic car CS&B jobs lined up and time is of the essense. My condo community does not provide seperate garages.

This idea occured to me when I recently bought a Pool table from a company that operates out of a similar facility.

Please let me know..I know there must be some kind of zoning regulations and some properties dont allow it, but I would like to know if there are any that do...?

Thanks.

Some will and some won't. I store some stuff with a storage unit that would kill me if I tried to work on cars there and I have some friends that found some they rent out with the sole purpose of working on cars.

Try Craiglist.com and post an add saying you are looking for garage space. I did this and got several responses and offers.

U-haul has some concept storage units that have office space the bottom floor of the storage units. Basically, really cheap office space for start ups. Some of the ones I've seen have roll-ups. Also, if you look around, I'll bet you could find a ton of garages really cheap. Look on the streets behind the main streets in town - a lot of businesses use to have delivery garages that they don't use anymore and rent out.

i have been wondering about this too.....but mainly storage units, does anyone think its possible....will there be problems because of too much water or noise? maybe switching to just ONR.....

the problem will come from the owner not wanting you working on cars there. Another problem is most don't have electrical in them to hook up to.
