Can I get a Carfax run for me?

I don't have a CarFax account, but just FYI make sure you still do your due diligence before buying the car.



A car I recently traded in had a clean car fax, but the whole thing had been repainted and both bumpers and the passenger side door skin had been replaced.

It's actually for my truck, I want to see if my wreck has shown up on the carfax. Other than Carfax, the repair is so good you would never know, not even the finest autopian.:)

IDK if it's the same in your area, but when I went to trade in my car all the dealers I went to (probably around 4 different dealerships) had paint thickness meters. So, they all knew what parts of the car had been repainted (the whole thing :) ). They also checked the panel edges and felt they were rough. So, it doesn't really matter how well the paint matches. There are a lot of ways to indentify a re-paint.



Basically my point is that a good paint job and a clean CarFax will only help you if you're trying to sell it to the public.

Good luck! I just went through the new car buying process and when you have a trade in with some paint work done it makes an already tricky negotiation even more difficult. So, I just wanted to let you know the lengths that car dealers are going to these days to safeguard themselves.

I won't bet my life on this but it's about ~$30 for a month's access. Gee, I oughta remember but I just don't :o



Could be the best $30 you spend when shopping though ;) Cuts a lot of the losers from your list in no time.
