Can I do 1ZPP/AIO ?

Clayed the missus's car. Paint is pretty smooth and shiney! Plan to try 1Z Paint Polish for the first time on some minor swirls and hazing.



There is no problem going from 1ZPP to AIO (then SG), correct?



What if I need to go in the other direction (all work will be by hand)? Maybe 3M FCRC?

1ZPP, AIO, SG will be a great combo. AIO preps the surface for the SG.



I'm not sure what 3M FCRC is so I cant help you there. :(
 
I used the same combo on my car a few weeks ago. The results were awesome. It left a shine like I'd never achieved before. I only had time to do the hood and front fenders. I used the PC to apply PP and AIO, which removed nearly swirl and cob web. The paint still looks great even though I haven't washed in over a week. Do yourself a favor and get some Sonus Acrylic Spritz. It works great with AIO and SG.
 
I'm a big fan of Sonus Acrylic Spritz, especially on top of the Klasse SG.



3M FCRC is fine-cut rubbing compound. I was wondering what might be a next step up from the 1ZPP. Hope I won't need anything more aggressive, but I'm not really sure what would be a good choice for use by hand.

Did you spray with 50/50 alcohol mix between 1ZPP and AIO?

the alcohol mix is not required, the AIO will clean up any bits and pieces that shouldn't be there! ;)



Good stuff that AIO, so darn versatile and easy to use....:xyxthumbs

Even though I was aware that AIO would clean up the residue and oils left by PP, I still went over the area with a light mist of 50/50. Didn't hurt anything. This was my first experience with AIO so I did it just as a precaution. I must say, the results with AIO were great. Now I must finish the rest of the car.

The 3M FCRC isn't all *that* much more aggressive than the 1Z PP, at least as best I can tell. It works OK by hand, but not as well as the 1Z stuff. Still, it might be a good thing to try on the more stubborn marring. My fave for "stronger than PP" products is the 1Z Ultra/Extra. It works by hand and is more aggressive than the FCRC. But with any of these, you'll have to follow up with PP.

Good move IMO. An advantage of wiping with the 50/50 mix between each polishing step is it gives you an opportunity to see what defects are still left and you can correct them before you get to your AIO step
 
Thanks for mentioning the 1Z Ultra/Extra, Accumulator. I had not seen it when I was ordering the 1ZPP. Like you say, I could go up to 3MFCRC, if needed, but if 1Z line is hand-friendly, then I am going to go with that.



Right now, I think (hope) that I will not have to go higher. Her car is looking pretty good after just claying! Busy weekend ahead to PP/AIO/SGx2 that puppy, but I am looking forward to it. I am going to 'make' her do the interior (303 the vinyl, treat the leather, etc.).



Also, good reminder to be sure to examine progress as you go. Is the 50/50 misting between the pre-AIO steps to ensure that no type of filler is left, as well as aiding the inspection of the paint?
