Sounds a lot like "The Absorber". The Absorber is not a bad product, but it does need to be used with great care. I personally only use it for blotting if I use it on a vehicle.
One thing that I have found them very handy for is wiping the water off the vinyl seats of the boats if they have been rained on. They hold an amazing amount of water.

Assuming that we are talking about the same product, I've owned a similarly branded product for several (>5) years now. Mine don't reference the Perma-Seal (which down here is a "polish/sealant" product marketed at our state Fair). The ones I own are stamped "Made in Germany"

The only similarity to the Absorber is their "thirst". These towels are constructed from a celluose fiber source, and unlike the Absorber, the have a nap.

Because of other toweling products that I own, I rarely use them for drying vehicles paint. On the rare occasion that I have used on for vehicle drying, the blot method seem to work the best. I do keep one in each vehicle to pick up any accidental spills, and use them throughout the house. Excellent product, very durable.
