Calling Shotgun

Man I never followed any of those rules. I didn't even know that there were SHOTGUN rules. Glad my brothers and sister were not aware that I wasn't playing fair. LOL

Blueline 1, i wasn't aware of the rules either but, shotgun was usually called outside the house. I thought the word shotgun was derived from an officers partner who would ride with his shotgun mounted to the dash.to young to know about the horse and wagon thing.

We used to call "shotgun both ways." Meaning the trip to and from wherever we were going. Or, depending on the mood of my friends who worked out, they would get the seat cause you couldn't fight them off!

We also had a seat we called the "b!tch" That was the back middle seat - the worst seat in the car! Since I was the smallest of the group, I'd usually end up there.

Even worse, my buddy had an ancient station wagon. I used to have to ride in the back wagon part like a little child. We called that the "incubator" because on hot days you would melt back there and with all his garbage he stored, mold and stuff would "incubate" on it!

One day we were driving up a hill and coolant and smoke spewed out from the vents! All my friends bolted out of the car shutting the doors leaving me in the "incubator" trapped! I guess you had to be there but 10 years later we still laugh at the story. Instead of trying to get out, I was pounding on the back window. Remember in the movie 16 Candles when Anthony Michael Hall was trapped inside the glass coffee table at the party? My friends said that's what I looked like. Yeah, guess you had to be there.

Wow, sorry for the trip down memory lane.

LOL Spilchy, good story! It's amazing the memories that one word can bring back. Oh yeah.........calling both ways is a violation of the shotgun rules.:howdy
