pigeonbus said:Hey Hemi57! The only information I know right now is that I'm going to Australia, tentative departure date July 18/19 2006 and departure July 18/19 2007. Rotary Club International hasn't given me a city or even region yet, and hopefully I'll find out soon! I've been reading a little bit on Australia but I have a feeling that all of my preconceived notions (or lack thereof) of Australia are wrong
If previous exchange students are any indication...they've, in general, gone to the Melbourne/Adelaide area. I believe very few go to the Sydney metro area, at least with my organization. Only about 7 students from the United States go to Australia through Rotary each year, which is dramatically low compared to other countries, in part because in the past decades U.S. to Australia students didn't want to come home and apparently were a problem for Australia (dole-wise? I don't really know).
