:bounce I love the Z, but I think I'm wasting too much with my applicator pad.

I use Meguiar's foam app's, give it a spray of Z6 beforehand, squirt a little strip of Z2 down the middle, and it seems gone before I've done one panel!!!

Am I doing something wrong?? What pads/process do you other Z-ers use to apply??

Appreciate the help, thanks!:)

Hi,

I personaly like the Z-applicators.

I make them wet , wring out as much as possible , and give them 2 shots of Z6.

Finaly sqeeze the applicator to even the Z6 , and you're set:

the moisture kind of blocks the Z5(or2) from getting IN the applicator.

It works verry well for me , I can get 3 coats of Z out of an ounce,

just Z5ed my car the day before yesterday.

give it a try

I use pure foam pads exclusively, I do not spray the pad with Z6. I have never found that advantageous. You should not anticipate one application of the pad to last a whole panel. Just keep reapplying more product to the pad. There is no problem, or nothing wrong with doing that.

People keep saying that they don't want their pads saturated with product. That's a good way to be frugal but that's not the best way to distribute the product.

The way the pads are designed, you WANT them to be saturated so the product swells up inside the pad and distributes EVENLY throughout the surface of the entire sponge. This give you the best and most even product distribution. This will in the end, waste more product. But is the best way, and the intended way to do the job.

Im in the same boat as drewski, I think im wasting too much Z all the time.

I can not use the cotton applicators and get any kind of good results ever. I havn't tried foam in a while I will do it today on my next coat.

I'm with Brad, as I use foams exclusively with Zaino too. I like Viking foams and Meguiar's foams best. I also agree that once the foam is saturated or loaded up with product, it distributes very thin and even coats of Z. The thing that makes foam better IMHO, is that it loads up MUCH quicker than the thick terry cotton apps, which means that it actually soaks up less product than the cotton. I've not found foam to be wasteful, but the exact opposite. I'm getting more coats per ounce with foam than I ever got with cotton! Foam = :up

The Z applicators are great for the Z-1, but seem a little too rough for Z-2/Z-5.

So, the general consensus is that...

it's better to NOT saturate the pad with Z-6??

I have used both foam and cotton for Zaino application. Foam pads will spread thin and frugal coats . Nevertheless, I use cotton applicator because they seem to cause less marring after cleaning than foam. I am sure this is not a foam problem but a cleaning technique problem on my part. I have machine wash both and the cotton is just softer after cleaning. In a perfect Zaino world I would use a new foam pad each time I apply a coat but in reality this is not cost effective unless you only polish once a month. I may revisit the foam pad since I have started to use ZFX and with instant curing the slight roughness of a used foam pad may not marr my black finish. Black is so unforgiving and as of now I receive my best results with cotton ( 3 coats/cc including wheels, exhaust tips and glass). :xyxthumbs

I've tried the cotton applicators as well as the Viking foam.....for me the foam is easier and i think produces a thinner layer.....I have never felt that product is being wasted with the foam :up for the Viking foam appilcators
