Calcium/Lime deposits on paint...

A friend of mine in Port St. Lucie, FL has a shop, and during the hurricane the roof got pretty messed up. He has a '72 Duster that was just recently painted 2-3 weeks ago and has never been waxed. The roof leaked big time, and got calcium/lime deposits all over. All of the aluminum stuff in his shop is corroded. The Duster's brand new paint is covered in this stuff...he said bug & tar remover wont do anything, but you can scrape it off with your fingernail. I'm in New Jersey so I'm not there to help him....any ideas on what can be used to remove this safely?

It's either "on the surface" or "etched into the surface".

Sounds like it's "on the surface". I would clay bar it and polish out any problem areas.

I agbree withthe clay except for one thing, if there's a lot of the stuff on the paint, I'd be worried that it would load up the clay too fast and cause problems. I suggest a wash followed by a wipe down with white vinager THEN clay

Thanks guys, I'll tell him to use the white vinegar, and I'll clay/wax it for him when I get back :)
