By Hand: Z PC v. sfx 2 v. menzerna v. ...?

What polish/swirl remover is compatible with Zaino--and works well applied by hand? (Just doesn't seem worth it to spring for a PC for my very occassional swirl and rain etch removing sessions, and when Z2 does so well by hand.) No thread I could find that sets out preferences when no PC is used.

I'm ready to strip the Zaino down for the spring clean and get rid of accumulated swirls, etc. Car is a white Honda Civic '03, kept as Autopian as possible given that I have no garage and live in NC, part of the acid rain belt.

I have 3M swirl remover and Megs fine cut. But I'm looking for something better, and if possible, that I can go directly to applying Z2 without washing.

TIA.

I would think that ZP-C Fusion would be a natural for you to go with if using Z2Pro. It can be worked by hand, PC, or rotary. This would completely enable you to go into the Z-line sealants with out the need of a wash. Although not necessary it is recomended that a Z-6 wipedown will give you a smooth clean surface to apply your Z2Pro.

Yeah, I agree that sounds natural. But from other posts, some folks have been disappointed in Z-PC. Other threads haven't talked about how menzerna, optimum or sfx polishes compare to Z-PC if used by hand.

I'm about to do an order, and thought this is the time to get new, improved spring cleaning supplies. But I need Autopian advice to make sure I'm going to get the right stuff.

I think any of the above products are not going to remove any swirls if used by hand.

I have used ZPC by hand before I had a PC, cleans up the paint real nice.

Ah, so maybe the answer is to keep with the Zaino system, get the Z-PC, and see if the results satisfy me or if I just HAVE to have a PC.

LOL, I can just see the significant other's look when I say my car is not shiny enough and I NEED the PC. People on my block already think my efforts on my car are odd.

Sherri Zann,

Am not sure what you have for Zaino right now but if you are going to order get the ZP-C Fusion, Z5(hopefully by springZ5Pro), Z2Pro,Z6, Z8. Have been using Z1 instead of ZFX and really am liking it because I tend to over layer so I use the Z1 instead and then do days and days of layering. I do not believe it is better but it is easier for me. Just a thought. ZFX is great though if time is of a concern.

I know I use way to much/to often of both Z6 and Z8. So now when I order I get four bottles of Z6 and two bottles of Z8. Just love them so much. Since I have been ordering from Zaino it gets cheaper per bottle because they have a lump sum shipping charge.

About the significant other wondering about the PC, well go get it. You will not be sorry. If you have minimal swirls now...using a PC will completely alieveate your swirl problems. Any marrring could well be covered with layers of Z5(soon to be Z5Pro) and use Z2Pro to up the shine and seal the paint for a beautiful look. IMHO

Thanks, cwcad. I have ZFX, Z2, Z5, Z7, Z-clay, and Z-6. Have to say I haven't found much use for the Z5. Used to have a dark green Accord, and didn't find the Z5 of real benefit. I have a white Civic now, and just stick to the Z2. I use so little per coat and it is so durable that even though I put on about 5-7 layers, I still have plenty. But I'm now thinking that it's time for a spring order and I am planning on Z2Pro, Z8.

If you want to argue me into waiting for the Z5Pro, give it a try! Maybe I've been missing something with the Z5. (?)

As to the PC, I'm toying with it. But for one or two swirl busts a year, seems like a waste. Call me crazy, but I'd like to pare down my stuff at this point, rather than accumulate more.

I have to admit that the first time that I used Z5 i missed what it did also. It has grown on me personally. I have a black truck. Another reason why it is growing on me. But my wife's cool vanilla 300 Touring looks terrific with the Z5 layered followed by Z2Pro. Is it needed? No!! Does it help? All I can say is that my wife won't leave home without it!!

If and when Z5Pro is released I hope it is as different as Z2Pro compared to Z2. From what I have heard from beta testers it just may well be worth the wait. The last report from blkZ28Conv, Sal is going to tweak it a little more than the last beta bottle that he had used.

Since I have always obtained good results from the Zaino products it would be my belief that it would be worth the wait. I know I am waiting...impatiently !!!

Just another sell for the PC. You can get good results with ZP-C Fusion by hand. The results, IMO, will be even better with a PC. With the incorporation of Z8 into your products list the two times a year swirl busts will be gone in short time using a PC. It will also coincide with your semi annual Zaino Detail. :lol
