Buying a car out of state

I talked to the guy in TN recently and he still has the car. I am waiting some $$ so I can make the trip to Memphis and pull the trigger on this deal.

BTW, this is the color Maxima I am eyeing:

I just talked to the guy regarding this car and it's got the heated mirrors but not the seats and steering wheel. Doesn't matter. I still want it.

Also, the previous owner is more anal about the condition of his cars than I am. :D

Prinz,

Hey buddy, I'm just getting a chance to read your thread. I've purchased all of our vehicles out of state and never once paid more than one sales tax. Someone is definitely misinforming you. If you are getting your new car delivered, you don't have to worry about pre-registering it or anything because it's not going to be driven on the street so you don't need a temp. tag or anything until it gets to you. If you decide to pick the car up yourself and drive it home, all you have to do is go to a local DMV where you are buying the car from (with the seller) and they will pre-register everything for you and give you a temp. license plate to drive home on. It is your responsibility to register the car and pay all of your local taxes once you get home, and not before then. Other than a temp. tag fee, you shouldn't have to pay a penny until you get home.

Man...its getting close to two years since this was originally posted.

Does the guy in Ct. still have the Maxima for sale?

Edit: I see that the Ct car was sold. This is like a soap opera.
