What makes everyone think they may not lesson the quality of the product????
No significant company today will maintain a product that losses money, especially if they have recently been acquired.
Also, if the margins on any given product are poor or if the company needs to squeeze a bit of extra revenue out of one, they'll definitely attempt to bring down the cost of production.
The formula isn't a lot different that than that of the insurance industry where the cost saving is weighed against future claims and if they find it's cost effective to bring down the quality a bit, then so be it.
I have no idea and I doubt any one else here even has a clue whether the Porter Cable DA will be effected by the potential new management. So until it becomes an issue years down the road, I wouldn't even worry about.
Plus, I can't imagine the 7424/7336 DA being a very high seller for them as most body shops etc use an air driven model as opposed to the PC. I have yet to see it used anywhere. It's mainly used as a sander by professionals.
No need to worry, heck, they may even be able to improve it a bit and get rid of the extreme shake at speed 6.
