Was it hard for you guys to come up with a business name?
It seams like I'm really struggling to come up with one.
Everytime I think of one I look it up and someone else somewhere is already using it:wall

Nope it was easy on my part:D

I've built my business off of a good reputation and quality of work. I wanted people to know my business by my name not a branded or slick catch phrase name.

I thought about using my name, but dereksdetail.com is already being used. and he has the first 3 google search result pages.

Is this a full time bonded business or something that you want to do on the weekends? I'm the later of the two so I wasn't concerned with having the same or similar name and anyone else. I have no intentions of growing the business any larger than it is currently

It took me 3 months to come up with my business name. And after I had already got the cards and the ad in the phone book I found out my name is being used in Minnisota! Find a good name and stick to it even if someone else is already using it. Just make sure they aren't using it in your area

It is very hard to come up with a business name. But, keep on working on it until you get a name your happy with and one that works for you. Don't settle. One of the things about using your own name to start your business is that if you decide to sell the company its very hard to do if its named with a personal name.

Keep going and keep working on it. Im sure you will eventually hit on something great.

Well I was just thinking of a name after reading the previous posts i really like it but found that its being used already. "Spit Shine Detail" Think its somewhat of a catchy name.

Yeah I like that. you said the name was being used? where at? Is it far from you? If thay are not close to you then you might be able to get away with it.

The name isn't important. As long as you provide people with quality work, are very professional, provide great customer service, and have passion that's obvious to your clients then you could name it "We Shine You Pay" and be just fine.

My daughter-in-law is a marketing director for a software firm and she and my daughter put their heads to gether and ran with a few ideas of mine. The end results was :

Distinctive
Auto
Detailing************************Or take it to dad if you want it done right.

I like that Paul!

My name was an evolution of thoughts and reflected the cars I was working on at the time. I was doing primarily Ferrari's. Bella Macchina is Italian for beautiful machine (car).

When I originally googled the name there was no Bella Macchina detailing services anywhere and very few with Italian names (save for Santelli Detailing of greater whatever). Now it is fairly common to find Italian detailing services and there are a few Bella Macchina's.

i came up with my name so people would remember it. BIG A, short guy. i remember one of my first customers, she asked where is BIG A & when i spoke with her she kind of smiled. i kind of smerked back & took in the job & then took her money. the name has stuck with me & its one that i dont think is possible to forget. BIG A but i am just 5"6 haha! if you have a nicknake that would work well. try to pick a name that stands out.
they say its good to use your first & last name too but i dislike giving out my last name. also, a shorter name means a shorter web link, which is supposed to = easier to google search + easier for your customers to remember you.

drink a beer or have a smoke & get your thinking cap on boy!

hope this helps!

I've been thinking about business names too so I know how hard it is to come up with something original. I'm only going to be doing this on the side. If it grows into more than great by if not I still have a job and this is my hobby.

Don't over think it and don't get overly clever with the name (for some reason a lot of people just don't get the cleverness)
Look at business around your area and what they use for their name. Some are easy to remember and some just stick out while others just aren't too appealing. I've been looking and have gotten some good ideas from existing businesses but are still original.

I sat down am just started writing down some key words I wanted to use. Bounced ideas off friends/family members. Based on what I do in "real life" Class of Shine was born!

I spent a long time thinking about mine. Eventually it just came to me and I liked it. Not everyone catches onto the logo right away, but I feel it describes what I do very efficiently. Starting out I just went by my name.

My business name is actually a reference from the Simpons (Mr. Sparkle was some japanese dish detergent homer found with his face on the box)

Most people have no idea, and they just think it's funny to have their car cleaned by a guy who calls himself Mr. Sparkle. Which is fine by me ;) and I think it helps them remember the name
