Building New House - Garage Features???

Wow cinder block walls, never see that here anymore all poured concrete walls. I am not sure why maybe the cold or snow load from roof or just over regulation building codes. Keep up with the updates love to watch the progress even the little things.
They won't let us do that in Utah either.

Cinderblock walls are the overwhelmingly most-common type in my area. My shop walls are cinderblock, but also filled with concrete for added strength (it was a weird situation).

We had a fence wall and a garage built in this manner when I was a kid but the foundation was poured.

My addition is being done with cinder block too, they core fill every so often and add rebar. I was asked by a friend why we didn't poor but all the research I did made it sound like they were equally as good when done correctly, plus the block was a bit cheaper.

I'm not sure if cinder blocks are good or bad - I'm really not too knowledgeable on this subject. But, anyway - that's what they use. This builder has been around since the early 1950s, so maybe they are old school?

One thing that I found unique, is the architect (who is the founder's son), still draws all his blue prints by hand. They gave me copies of the hand drawn blue prints - and I was expecting computer print outs.

My guy is old school like that too...city inspectors seemed to like it as well. ;)

Well, we have a garage (sort of).

Nice flat long driveway for detailing.

I'm going to ask these dudes if I can save a few bucks if I slap some Natty's on their vehicles:

Looking good, few windows in that bump out will cost you some wall space but the natural light is a blessing when you are stuck inside with doors closed helps keep depression away.

House is coming along quite nicely. Will snap some pics soon. They started hanging the siding and the mason is working on the brick in the front.

But, I'm checking in because I met with he builder to discuss the electrical setup... First off, it was suggested here prior, and I never really thought about it, but I am getting the garage insulated. Should be able to store detailing chemicals in there without worrying about freezing. Cost isn't too bad ~ $700 for all walls and ceiling.

Second, I think builder dude thought I was crazy with regards to lights. Garage is like 2.5 cars size and I'll have 28 total T8 bulbs, he told me I could get by with 4. I'm thinking 28 will be enough? I'm getting two basic light switches - one for every day use (4 bulbs) and one for car use (all bulbs)

Also got a slew of outlets all around the the garage.

lookin good, definitely throw a 240 and a 20amp outlet in there so you can run anything you want no matter how much power.

looking good, Oh brick spray on some sealer to keep them healthy and you never have to worry about paint or root. I love wood but its a pain to care for.
