is it possible that bugs like to eat the wax off you car?

today my friends BMW in the work carpark had little flying ants all over it, not on the windscreen but all over the paintwork. these little ants were only on his car, and not any others in the whole carpark. they were concentrated in the area's which recieve large amounts of wax like in corners and edges. he keeps his car very clean and always waxed, he uses a BMW brand wax which i think may have some natural waxes in it but i'm not sure.

is it possible that the little bugs were eating his wax as this is the only reason i can see for the bugs to be on only his car. this is very strange i know but have any of you heard of this before?

I’ve seen bees/wasps attracted to wax, I think it was because of the smell (Zymol) (maybe beeswax attracts them LOL) don’t know if bugs eat wax though!

~Hope this helps~

i noticed this also, after waxing my car... small bugs all over it... i wonder if they do eat the wax... or crap on the paint???:nixweiss

I bet the "flying ants" were actually termites swarming. They were probably trying to get inside to feast on the wood trim. :LOLOL

Last week I had a rather large swarm of flying ants (queens) all over my car after I washed it. It had a couple layers of Paste Glaz on it, and I love the smell of it, so ants probably do too (or taste). It took me forever to use the CWB on the hood, because I would need to spray the ants off with the hose, step on them, and then try to use the blade again. By the time I got the blade ready, there were more ants on the hood. The weird part is that the rest of the car was nearly free of ants.
