Buggatti Veyron drives off pier into water.........

you know that is right down the road from me.... haha

I would give it a go... not like I could do more damage to it.

I am guessing that it is a total loss - brackish water in the engine and major components = bad news

This guy must have been flying! He crossed through what looks to be 20-30 feet of mud after he left the road then landed a good ways out into the water.

The part I love though is after they get it out of the water and are about to load it on the flat-bed the tow-truck guy rinses the mud off his hands before he grabs the steering wheel! He didn't want to get it dirty I guess!!

since it is wide open and flat out there... my guess is that he was pushing it to see what he could do and lost control

pelicans are cool and all but the story doesnt seem to fit... driving along, talking on the cell, bird watching, lost control, carried enough momentem to get 30 feet off shore.

Money > Brains

I love how he let it idle for 15 minutes while in the water "before it died"

He should be forced to drive around in a pink Yugo for the rest of his days here on Earth!

i didnt notice it the first time, but the scrubber picked up that word in the middle of salt water.... hahaha really??... hilarious

Thats not too far from me, they had it on the news last night. Idiot! Hell, total it out and I'll buy it as a big ass model car. LOL

Yup, I think the tale of speed is told in the rear spoiler, These are designed to only deploy at speeds enough to generate lift under the car. I know the Boxster does a similar thing. Not sure what that speed is on Veyron to get the spoiler to rise, but I'm guessing well over 100.

It gets better.... There's a video of the crash!

I don't think there will be an insurance claim now.

You just beat me to finding that link. I just watched the video of it driving off into the water on Channel 13 News. Thats about 15 minutes from my shop. Yea, that's about where I hit the gas everytime on my way to the island. Wonder what that would have looked like if it wasn't a Bugatti, but a Hayabusa, wouldn't that be a sight.

Pretty sure the spoiler is automatically deployed at 137mph but the driver also can also manually deploy at will.
