Hi everyone! I am in need of some advice. With spring being here I am running into more and more of a problem removing bug stains off paint on the border patrol vehicles i've been washing. Its getting to be a pain and time consuming since the vehicles are white, and the The K-9 units are the worst! These guys are always in a hurry to get somewhere with the budget crunch the government only allows each vehicle to be washed once a month so you can imagine what the front of these white pick-ups and and SUV's look like when they hand them over to me for a wash. I've been using an aerosol by jetstream products called powerfoam. I buy it for dry washing planes. when I'm in a hurry or the stain is too darn stubborn to come off i use it on the vehicles. Its works great to break down these stains before I wash the vehicle. The problem is its too darn expensive to waste on a fleet vehicle. Anyone know of a less expensive alternative that will work just as well? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys! :D
 
Steve's Bug Squash works very well. You can also dilute it down to 3:1. However, it sounds like you might need it full strength. Don't forget your DC discount! You can also buy it by the gallon which makes it more economical.

I'm not sure what your wash routine consists of, but I toss "a splash or two" into the foam gun along with my soap mix. I keep a spray bottle (diluted 50/50) to hit the extra bad spots.

1Z also has their Anti-Insekt, though I haven't done any price comparisons. And I've read that some use Stoner's Tarminator for this, I have not tried it myself.

One more thought, again not knowing what your contract dictates - and relying on the wording of your post that a wash, not wax is the service, if the bug cleaning is becoming too time consuming why not try a wax or sealant on the leading edges to see if the time spent upfront is time saved on the back end. (I can't diagram the "sentence" I just wrote :redface:)
 
Wow! thanks guys! blk45? Thats an awsome idea about using a wax or a sealer on the leading edges! I hadnt thought about that! Imma give the bug squash a try and the wax idea also! Thanks alot guys! I appreciate the feed back more than you know!:bigups
 
I am going to have to try the Bug Squash product one day, but I just did a demo today for an Austin Healey owner of what Surf City Grime Destroyer will do.

The bugs had been on the paint for weeks, and he had NO WAX or sealant on the car. Spray on, dwell 20 seconds, wipe off. Done. I usually dilute it 3:1, but I had brought a new bottle along to show him so this was full strength.
