Bug Squash

Just a quick question. I need to put an order in and wanted to pick some of this stuff up. Any tips for using this? Do most of you dilute it first and then wash? Or can you just spray it straight on those buggers to take em off?

Also, what would be the recommended sprayer to use that Steve offers?

Thanks as always. :)

I don't have real bad bug problems but I spray on 100% from the bottle / sprayer that it comes in...let set to loosen them up...then wash with mitt and rinse...seems to pick up about 95%....some take a second soaking or my bug block to get off

I just used this product and it worked great! I mixed it per the instructions and sprayed it on. I let it sit for 10 minutes and then scrubbed it off with the Pinnacle bug remover sponge. The front end came out bug free! Easiest product to remove bugs I've ever used.

I believe Steve's directions state to dilute the product at 3:1. I'll admit that I haven't done so and have been using it straight. I see more road grime (tar etc.) than bugs. Another use I've found is to combine an ounce or so along with the car wash in the foam gun for those really nasty vehicles.

Thank you all for the feedback. I did not realize it came with a sprayer. I have LOTS of bugs, so this sounds like it could be the product for me.

It is and if you have allot I would go 100% it maybe over kill but they will be gone!

I heard he wanted 3 to 1 ratio so it wouldn't compromise the LSP.

100% may be compromising the LSP a bit I would think, but then again applying an LSP to just the bumper after every wash shouldn't be that hard at all.

i used it last summer after hitting a couple hundred nats on the nj turnpike. Did ok after they had sat for a few days. But with this chemical sprayer i bought i plan on mixing BS/APC and doing a pre-soak like that.

I have to deal with some pretty bad bug problems down here, and I have found that if I let the vehicle go a couple of days without S&Wing the front every afternoon that I just can't get by with the 3:1 dilution. I think it works a lot better cut 50/50, and if the bugs are really bad, go ahead and use it straight. It does work wonders. :)

Agree. I usually use BS 50/50. The important thing to remember with BS, it to pre-rinse/soak the area that you plan to treat. This will 'activate' BS, and you'll have optimum results.

I've found BS effective on bugs, light tar, and winter salt.

How I use BS is to do the 3:1 but i rub it in with my hands Let soak and then it those areas last in the wash. Everything comes of great! I'm starting to use my hands for a lot of things now days.

Won’t using APC compromise your LDP or even you primary wax/sealant?

not really sure. I haven't detailed my jetta since last summer nor have i touched my f150. Haven't really had motivation to really detail much. If i take tomorrow off from work maybe i'll do the truck. Jetta isn't that bad.

Just got my Autogeek order in and had a few new products that I had not used yet. Bug Squash was an item I really wanted to try. I get it out and read the instuctions and mixed it 3:1 and ran outside to the front of my truck.
My son and his girlfriend are sitting on the couch. I came back in with a big smile on my face. It works great! I don't see how I ever made it without this stuff. Kentucky is bad for bugs at night. You cannot drive at night without a blanket of bugs on your front bumper the next morning.
My son's girlfriend looks at him with a puzzled look on her face. My son's says to her " were going to get him some help one day"..... Oh fiddlesticks He knows nothing about taking care of his car. Ya gotta wade thru fast food garbage in the floorboard to get in his car. I swear it looks like street people are living in it. If he didn't look like a carbon copy of me.... I would have to
smack his momma.....No way he would have come from me. LOL!

Has anyone had any bad experiences with Bug Squash??? I have used a bug and tar remover recently and it severly damaged my front plastic grill and left stains on my paint! I'm scared to use that product and am now interested in getting this stuff!

Did you spray this on a hot car and let dry on the surface befroe washing off??

Also I would imagine that you can get some polish and that should take the stains off....what do you mean by severely damaged?
