Buffing Pads Discussion - Where too from here??

Dream Machines
G'day all

Lately I've learnt some more things about foam pads and I had thought about microfibre being made into a machine pad some years ago but surbuf was already doing so and now Meguiars have released what could be a superior version of the material

David Ghoudassi from OPT said to me over the phone that he had a silk wool pad and a possum hair pad was even mentioned to me by a friend

Anyhow, I have begun wondering - where to from here?

Even though what we have in terms of wools, foams and now MF's is excellent, although foam pads are not at their optimum quality level due to the gas used during manufacture, what materials, natural or synthetic can we use to make a superior pad for now and the future, especially with the most up to date paint systems and those coming.

I heard from my polish manufacturer (I buy directly from the manufacturer) about "paramagnetic paint" and of course there is powdered paint

Lake Country made a foamed wool pad which is pretty damn good when new until it thins out somewhat, how about a wool and microfibre pad since microfibre is more aggressive than foam (so I was told) or a wool, MF and Foam pad combined?

Am very keen to have your input

Instead of waiting for manufacturers to change things, lets get some ideas going and tell the manufacturers to make what we want.

I'm no longer satisfied with just wool and foam. gotta be something better

Have you tried the new Meg's MicroFiber pads via DA yet? Od even the black TufBuf lambswool pads? If I'm thinking of the right pad, the silk wool is alot like foamed wool IMHO. Regardless, pads are product dependant most of the time. And on top of that they're job/results and paint dependant too. Never hurts to keep looking for a better product though....

Ive ordered the Surbuf's and will be getting the Megs MF's as well

Going to try with DA, RO and Rotary

There's a bit of a learning curve with the SurBuf pads, moreso that I woulda thought as the whole thing seems perfectly simple (compared to, say, trying some new pad system on a rotary). I'll be interested to hear what you think of 'em.
