Does using a cutting pad to polish my car often effect the amount of clearcoat left on the car? I mean, will using a cutting pad and polishing often reduce the amount of clear till one day I will break through. Also I have searched and read tons of stuff already. Klasse sounds really good, better than zaino right now. It does say in a review I read that it may "enhance or bring out" the appearance of swirls. Isnt that bad? Isnt that what I dont want? As for protection to the paint....Klasse sounds top notch. What do you guys recomend for a 3 step process where I can continualy improve by adding layers of polish and finishing with wax. I need a suggestion for a good swirl remover...but not one that will abrade away my clear coat. I also want a suggestion for a good polish and wax. Thanks for your help guys.

Ok, I know what the CMA kit is now. Looks very complete and a good way to get started. Now, a better explanation from people who have actually used this stuff as to when I should use what would be great. :bow :bow :bow thanks car gods :D Just so all of you know I have a civic, Jap paint is IMO about a 6.5 in quality on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being highest, I want my baby to not only sparkle but to last me a long, long time...show me the way. I will post pics of her if you guys would like to see. It has a subtle lip kit with a drop and some performance goodies. I pretty much have it the way I want it, now I am trying to keep it clean thats all there is left to do just keep her glowing.

yeah I ordered one from coastaltool they said it was going to be here by Tuesday. It is freaking Sunday and it still isn't here. I guess this time of year shipping anything is sloooooowwwwww

Vtec,

The PC looks like a great tool for weekend wax applying and light swirl removing. But as someone who has used a rotory for 11 years I have to say a PC is no substitute for a rotary.

My suggestion is to have the marring and swirls removed by a pro in your area. Then maintain the car yourself with a PC or by hand.

Products like SMR,#7 ,DACP and Finesse are a whole different beast when used with a rotary. They can remove some heavy swirls, scratches and blemishes.

When people say to "just do it by hand" you can't really do by hand what you can do with rotary.

You need a certain amount of heat for these products to really work the way they were designed to. Maybe on a car in near perfect shape, but on your car, you already used the mothers system ( good products in my book) if this didn't take care of it then you may try a pro followed by your own TLC later.

ALL swirl removers and abrasive polishes remove small amounts of clearcoat. That's how they level the surface, with mechanical abrasive. If you want to remove the swirls you are going to remove some of the clear.
