:hairpull :hairpull Ok I bought the new Ultimate detail buffer and Im using the blackfire SCR polish not the compound. I tries using a orange/blue/black pad no matter what when I buff it down to almost dry as stated, I cannot get the crap off my paint unless I go over it with a detail spray?? I have to be doing something wrong as it leaves a oily film that I cannot remove.:hairpull :hairpull :hairpull :hairpull :hairpull

I have also tried my other FPII and it does the same thing. Im missing somthing with this new buffer?

I always used a seard orbital buffer with no problems at all with the terry cloth bonnets..lol and I dont want to go back to that,

No picts---I have tried speed 2-5 and buff till its pretty thin, at least I think. I go over it up and down then sideways a few times and dont put alot of pressure on the machine either. It just does not want to come off clean with my micro fiber towels.

Sounds like you may not still be breaking the polish down enough. Keep the speed on 5 or 6 and keep moving the udm at a slower speed. Stop and try a small section to see if it wipes clean. If not try a few more passes and wipe a small area again.

When trying new polishes or compounds it helps to do a test section to see how long it takes to break the polish down, that way you know in the future when the polish is about to break down and slow the buffer down a bit.

How large are your polishing areas? 2 foot by 2 foot is generally as large as you want to go. I agree it sounds like you are not breaking down the polish enough. Also, how fast are you moving the UDM? An inch per second is the most recommended speed. Also, you say you are going up and down, side to side a few times. I generally do the following:

Horizontally at one inch per second with 50% over lap then veritcally at one inch per second with 50% over lap then horizontally, vertically and finish horizontally one last time. That takes about 5 minutes, maybe more.

Thanks for the tips--It is a learning curb to say the least.....lol

I did try Ultima Paint Prep with a white Pad and it works Perfect for some reason unlike the others, although It doesnt take out many defects. Im guessing if I go up another Pad, I think orange is next then I may see more defect removal with the UPP?

From what Im hearing Im definatly moving it too fast along the panels so Im probably not breaking it down enough. When its broke down what does it look like? Does it seem like its all gone?

I agree, it's probably not breaking down all the way. Keep working it till dry, use the "finger wipe" as a test, wipe it with one finger and if it smears it's not done yet, if it wipes clean then it's done and ready to wipe off.

Srpead it on a low speed, then turn it up to 5-6 and work it in till dry.

Ha,Ha I cranked that SOB up 6 and slowed it down a little and boy does it work now...that things hums right along......

use Isopropyl alcohol mixed with some water to remove the oils. Work it until it begins to go clear. Don't use too much.

Correct, the "haziness" of the product should clear up.
