Hey everyone, I am new to this site but will be a frequent now that I have found such a site! Ok, my problem lys in my process I believe but Im not sure.. I have about 2 years of detailing experience using my 7424 but I just cant clear my paint up to be perfect. Some who see my car, (actually all that see it) say that it is perfect but I beg to differ. O, what I hide with wax!! The first picture is my paint after a wash:

That picture is takin after using a griots step 2, and step 3 final polish using a orange cutting pad. Those close marring marks are killing me. I ordered a white finishing pad from autopia yesterday and hoping to us my final polish with that pad and get these off. Any suggestions anyone? And the last picture is my car after a polish and glaze and wax..As you can see my paint does look perfect until the wax wears off :)

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for reading

If you are stopping with the orange cutting pad, no wonder you are getting hazing. You need to use a polishing or finishing pad to get out the hazing.

Yes exactly. Well said scotty. A cutting pad with final polish just doesn't match.

Looks like you backed into that sign :wow:

Yes, cant stop after the cutting pad. Hopefully the polishing pad will take care of the marring..Get some Optimum polish too.

Maybe im being a jerk by saying this but with 2 years of experiance you should know you cant stop after the cutting pad.

coupe..You are not a jerk! I have been finishing with orange pad because that what I was told to do by the people I bought them from. I just thought it was something in my process. So, you guys think a white final polishing pad from autopia and a good final polish will work out for me?

I would get a polishing pad and finishing pad...some paints need both to finish out perfect. Menzerna FPII works great to get rid of hazing...but sometimes isn't strong enough...how many times have you polished your car with just the orange pad? The marring/hazing could be pretty heavy.

Yes... What you have there is soo clear to me that its hazing from the cutting pad, that Im willing to bet a final polish and a white polsihing pad will remove it, if not I'll send you a sample of my PO106ff final polish free.

Welcome to the site and goodjob on using pictures along with a description to show your actual problem.

Many times its hard to see whats happening without pics.

O yea, I sure appreciate everything and all the info I have received so far. My white pad is coming this week hopefully, and then Ill get to buffing with it maybe friday or saturday..and joyride Ill take you up on that sample, im always up for trying to things :)

For my last step on my car (black as well) I used Menzerna FPII with a soft (black) Lake Country finishing pad (PC 7336 BTW). The combo worked beautifully for me. My blog (see signature for link) has a bit of a write up and some pics.

I really am impressed with the Menzerna. My understanding is that it is a polish without any oils or fillers, so the results you see are "true" (i.e. nothing hidden).

Nice car BTW!

I understand that there are better polishes out there. But what I have I spent lots of money on, So I want to try my best to use them up before buying other. I have heard good things about menzerna. That will be my next purchase. So, what I have gotten from this is that I should use my pad I have ordered with a final polish on #6 on my 7424? I always thought that 6 was why my paint looked like this!! ok , thanks everyone! in the mean time here is a pic of a 67 chevelle I did 2 weeks ago. With that I used only a step 3 polish and wax on speed #5. It came out nicely:

You do all your work with only a cutting pad? If your charging others for your work I would suggest you invest in some other pads and polishes.

To answer your question: Yes I would use the final polish on a polishing pad, start at 3-4 to spread it around then kick it up to 6 and move it slowly.

I do charge money, But none of these cars I have done ever looked like mine! Its the weirdest thing. Ive seen the cars after months, some without a wash since and the paint looks insane.. The purpose of this thread is to figure out what I am doing or have done wrong to mine?
