Buddies Red Mustang

My buddy just picked up a used mustang. At 23, it's pretty much the first non-beater he has owned (prior to this he had an 87 toyota camry with 260,000 miles that wasn't even worth the $3 to take through the carwash).

Anyway, this being the first car he actually wants to take care of i'm showing him the ropes. The problem i'm having however, is that i'm having a hard time with this color. The car is just red. No subtlety whatsoever. No metallic flake, no nothing, just red. I on the other hand have a metallic silver car, (as does most of my family) and my products are kind of geared towards those lighter metallic colors. Generally, post polishing, i've been using duragloss 105 and aquawax, and that really makes my silver pop, but it's just not doing much for this particular red. Sure it looks glossy, but there's little character and that's really just a property of this color.

If i could have my way, i'd darken the color a bit and just make it look like a reflecting pool. I'm hoping that's possible with the right product. I'd still like to maintain durability since he doesn't have a garage, so maybe some kind of glaze topped with collinite 845?

Suggestions?

Meguiar's NXT 2.0...

The other option would be Clearkote's Carnauba Moose Wax

This is a 2005 Mustang Torch Red that I detailed last season... LSP's Megs #21 topped with Collinite 845, if I recall correctly..

I have a 2007 torch red. I really like Pinnacle Liquid Souveran, its on sale at Autogeek. I know it only lasts maybe a month, but its very quick to do. I mean if you have a car like that, spending an hour waxing every 3-4 weeks shouldn't be a big deal if he wants to take care of it. I'm still looking for what I want to use this winter, but for summer this is it.

Awesome pics btw, I couldn't get mine to load :(

DWG + NXT 2.0 is working out well for me

by the way... the lighting was a bit different for the before and afters, so it's not all the DWG. That said, the DWG application was noticable.... unfortumately I did not even think to take pictures right before DWG and immediately after DWG. Perhaps next time

that looks pretty hot there. Might give the DWG a try

Megs 26 darkens a lot.

Hmm, i do have a 5 year old tub of megs 26 sitting around, i seem to remember megs 26 being a decently durable for a 'nuba...could probably bump that up topping it with aquawax
