bucket choices?

I get extremely rich suds from Gold Class by putting my wool wash mitts in the bucket then pouring the GC soap onto the wash mitts. Then I use a high powered spray close up to the mitt and fill the bucket spraying as close as I can so as not to splash everywhere but create optimal suds. It creates these incredibly thick sheets of bubbles that I know keeps my car scratch free.

hey. so do i. a big white one. we have like 5 of them floating around. so i just pick up a random one. i use one for my wheel stuff also

Kitty litter buckets are great. I have to buy the litter anyway, so the buckets are free. Nice strong handles too.

I have several 5 gallon paint buckets. You can pick these up at WM, HD, or Lowesfor $2-$3 apiece. I also have a couple of round 5 gallon buckets with a flat side from target.

I think I may try the chicken wire in the bucket idea. This reminds of the shelf from the bucket from Griots. You can purchase the Griots bucket for less than half price at most home centers. I think the bucket is made by Ettore.

Yes -- the Griots bucket is made by Ettore. Same yellow, except it says "Ettore" instead of "Griots," and you save $20. I just purchased mine today from www.detroitsponge.com.

You can also get the lid and casters from detroitsponge, although they are surprisingly just about the same price at Griots (lid is same price [$13], and casters are about $3 cheaper at detroitsponge [$22]).

It's still a ton of money to spend on a bucket, but, hey, this is important stuff for fanatics like us.... Can't believe I'm this excited about a bucket!

i purchased "buckets", more like liquid storage containers and lids from US Foods here in Rochester. They are a 24L gradiated bucket. They are great for measuring out the ammount of chemical to water. But unless you have cheap access to them, they are $20-30 and not worth it for the average person. I also have pickle buckets for the wheels, and engine water.

That ettore bucket doesn't look like it has the mitt/brush shelf like Griots does..

You can get a good mop bucket at a janitorial supply store if it is really important to have wheels on your wash bucket. No need for brand names.

That's a good point. Ettore calls is a "sieve," and it's available for an extra $10. I decided I didn't really need the shelf.

When I saw the bright red buckets at Pep Boys, I RUSHED right over and bought 3 of them!!! :xyxthumbs

I also found a nifty tool belt (for lack of a better description) that fits around the bucket with 8 mesh pockets on it to put tire brushes, spray bottles, etc in.) It's bright yellow, and fastens with velcro.

the Griots bucket but I have seen it as a Rubbermaid bucket.. but having the wheels on it make it the best!!!

Dana

Yes, it is a Rubbermaid product, and I have seen it at several Home Depot stores... not all... with the wheels as an add-on item. I think I also saww it a year or so ago on the Rubbermaid website.

Right now I use a clear rubbermaid bucket I got from the Container Store. It has a smaller bucket that nests in the top, and holds my mitts, soap, wheel cleaner, brush, and absorber. I like the fact that the bucket is clear, so I can easily see how dirty the water is.

Not that anyone cares about this, but just to clarify for any anal retentive readers of this post who are trying to replicate the Griot's bucket exactly (color, etc.): as I mentioned above, the Griot's bucket is made by a company called Ettore. Ettore could be (or could have been) affilliated with Rubbermaid, but don't appear to be currently.

The bucket available these days at some Home Depots is made by a company called Unger, and is very, very similar to the Griot's bucket, but not exactly the same. My Home Depot did not have wheels to fit the Unger bucket, which led me to the internet. I happened to run across the Ettore bucket in my searching which was the same price as the Unger ($20), and a much cooler color.

Very, very pathetic that I seem to know so much about this.

While I am not interested in changing my wash buckets, I do have a question.

What's the big thing about a bucket having wheels?

Since several people have commented on the wheel deal, it must be of some value to them, but I guess I'm too dense to see it.

Even full of water they aren't difficult to move and other than when doing the wheels, I only need to move it from one side of the vehicle to the other one time. The wheels and wheel wells do require 4 moves.;)

I guess I am more anal than others. The Ettore bucket is made by Rubbermaid. The part number for the bucket is Q354

It can be seen at the following websites

The unger product is similar but not sure if it is the same. The ettore and the griots buckets are "rubbermaid" buckets made with their logo on it.

That is what I have found out. Yeah a little too much free time at a computer with a cable modem.

Todd, WOW! :bow

Have to say I'm relieved that there's someone else out there who's spent more time on this than I have. :D I guess the good news for me is that there doesn't seem to be a $$ difference between the Ettore and Rubbermaid buckets (except for one of the sites you listed, which had the whole enchilada [incl. shelf] for an amazing $52).

Ah well, I suppose "Ettore" suits my Italian heritage (and cars) better than "Rubbermaid" would. ;)

I find wheels annoying personally. I use buckets at my house, but my dad has the yellow griots bucket at his house,we dont live in the flat lands, and I find myself chasing the bucket down the hill way too much.
