Bub Abraham's Certification artice.

Certification alone is only a band-aid to a much larger problem. We all have had problems with "certified" mechanics or repair people and some have had good experiences with them. I will tell you that we have a guy we use for tile work, our A/C repair, etc. and he has no certification in any of those fields but he knows more and does a better job at those jobs than many of the other clowns we have called through the years.

Certification does not guarantee great or even good work but what it does do, perhaps, is mean that that specific detailer may have to answer to some higher authority for shoddy, half-butt work.

Ideally, certification by a governing body could give quality, well trained detailers a measuring stick by which all detailers could then by judged. A potential customer could at least have "some" assurance that a detailer that is certified and is a member of a governing body is accountable for what they do. If you do a crappy job, overcharge, damage a car, have no insurance etc. etc. etc. you could then be reported to said governing body and either disciplined or expelled by the organization altogether.

Now that is the type of follow up that would help.
