Just a few words about the work I did this weekend. I'll also need your help for something but I'll save that for last.

I applied rain-X to my windshield with a new method I learned here. I applied it twice and left it on the windshield for awhile. I then washed my truck like I normally do on sunday afternoons. Today, guess what! No Haze from Rain-X! I think I'm going to start applying rain-X like this all the time. It is a lot easier to wash it off than trying to buff the haze.

I posted before about rotary buffers because I was getting some bad swirling on my truck. I am not sure if it is the buffer pad I'm using or 3m swirl mark remover. The buffer pad is Lake Country Mfg. It is the black finish pad. I got some Meguiars Swirl Remover 2.0 and used it with a Milwaukee finishing pad and couldn't see any visible swirling. I'm going to have my truck out in the sun tomorrow so I'll be able to see if all the swirls are gone. I'll be getting another milwaukee pad to see if it is the 3m SMR or the pad. What do yo guys think it is? IS 3m SMR hard to use?

OK, I need yall to help me select a wax to test out. Vote here

The Lake Country pads are excellent. The black pad is a BUFFING pad - the softest - it is probably not a good pad to use SMR with. I use the yellow "cutting" pad for SMR and anything more aggressive - this is the firmest. In between is the white "polishing" pad I use for glazes and polishes.

I still think it is the pad. The shape of the pad makes it difficult to get good contact on the surface. Also, I still haven't figured out how to use the little area on the middle to prevent splatter. It still splatters even if I apply all the compound there.

I still prefer my flat, normal shaped Milwaukee pads.

Are you talking about using the pads with a rotary? if so i love the 3M polishing pads they work the best for me. You can't prevent splatter when using a rotary buffer.

I'm glad that method of applying RainX works out well for ya. :xyxthumbs RainX should put that on the bottle as the instructions instead of their stupid "...wait for it to haze and then buff off with a dry cloth.." mumbo jumbo. :)

Yes, It is official. There is no haze on my window from Rain-X.

Now, it'll hopefully rain in the next few days so I can test the rain removal effects. Screw trying to find a way to get this aquapel (sp?) stuff. I'm a rain-X man now! :xyxthumbs

No, but I get all kinds of spam from some in the US and a lot from China.

I wonder if this is the stuff I saw people hawking at my local gas station. Yes, as you were making sure the oil companies received their fair share of profits... a guy would approach you with this can of "Miracle" detailing product. Easy on, easy off, gets rid of bug stains, water marks, fine scratches and ...I think it improved your love life.

Three days latter a different guy knocks on our front door hawking what sounds like the same stuff. My wife, (the lovely Mrs. Kruer) started laughing at the guy and explaining why he was knocking on the wrong door. The guy didn't give up!
