Bright Orange 1971 Mini Cooper

Doing stuff.
With checker flag air brushing. This car was just taken on a little off road adventure, and was quite dirty. Interior wasn't pretty either. Lots of caked on dirt everywhere. Tons of residue under gas cap from spilled gas. Couldn't even see orange body under rear bumper because of all the grime.

Sooo

I washed with Meg's GC. Clayed with the suds, and rinsed. Took three wash mitts and a bottle of diluted simple green to get all the crud off. Then, I attacked the swirls. A rotary + meg's burgandy pad + DACP was the only thing I could get to cut down the swirls. Followed up with SSR2 on the PC with a yellow Propel pad. Applied Meg's #7 Show Car Glaze, and let it dry for about an hour while I cleaned the interior up. Had to reattach a plastic trim piece on the driver's side because as you can see, it was detached. Used gorilla snot, always comes in handy. Polished the exhaust pipe with a power ball and various polishes (eventually worked). Had to go through all the chrome with some Mother's chrome polish (took forever on the grille.. ugh).

Applied EX-P sealant and let dry for an hour. Followed with #26, and then a few spit shined layers of S100. Used Meg's endurance on the tires (mmm, grape), new favorite tire dressing. Autoglym's bumper care went to work on all the plastic and rubber trim, EASILY got off the stains from the EX-P. Anyways, here are a few pics. Hope to get some more tomorrow morning when it's sunny.

Superb, what an improvement. All that crud must've been a real pita.

The interior's so bare. Just a simple dash, steering column, gear stick and pedals. Love the look of it though.

Thanks for all the replies. Let the EXP sit because I had #7 under it. Letting it sit might've helped it bond better. And since EX-P is so amazingly easy to wipe off, it wasn't a problem at all.

Yes it is. And there was overspray from the airbrushing, but that was cleared over too so there are some wierd dark spots on the paint.

What a comeback!

Looks like a brand-new car! Man, that was quite the rigorous buffing schedule. Hope the owner was pleased :).

Took a few pics today in the hills during a light rain. Came out great.

I guess you could say the paint looks very wet.

No, it's very easy to do using the three pass method. Remove a layer of it at a time (three gentle wipe downs... don't have to get it all off at once). Let the remaining excess dry, and wipe again. Amazing how easy it is this way.
