Is it possible to break down a pure polish like Meguiars #7 Glaze? Would it be beneficial to work that with a pad with no mechanical ability until it has "broken down" to burnish the paint/jewel?
The only way to burnish/jewel with a nonabrasive product like #7 is for the *application medium* (i.e., the pad) to do the abrading.
We used to do that way back in the day using #7 and terry cloth on single stage (primarily lacquer). These days you'd be *MUCH* better off using a very mildly abrasive product and a zero-cut pad (the conceptually opposite idea).
