Hi Guys

I am currently using 2001 turtle wax car wash with good results I guess. But is there a difference between car wash products from different brands? And if so what would that difference be and what brands do you use or recomend?

BTW I use a big "kitchen" sponge to wash my car, is this a big no no?

There are some differences I use 3M and like it but have also used Eagle One and for the price found little difference. For a wash mitt I'm suning a natural wool mitt but also have a natural sea sponge. As loog as what you are using you keep it clean and diry free you should be OK

Many attributes can vary from car wash to car wash: of course cost, degree of lubrication and suds, residual wax or polymer after final rinse and scent to name a few. I would try several and hold onto the ones you like most. This is one of the most fun parts of detailing. I think I'm going to stick with sheepskin mitts permanently, I briefly tried chenille, just too much lint for my taste.

So far the best car wash soap I have used yet is Meguiars NXT soap. Leaves the paint nice and slick, rinses very nice, smells good, and lathers better than anything I have used.

My favorite is 4* Ultimate Car Wash Shampoo.
Great lubricity, Suds well and long, rinses clear,
Smells so good I want to wash my car every hour or two :)

ive been using Zymol car shampoo for over 6 months with great results. It smells Soooooo good I want to drink it . it leaves the Waxed paint really shiny , and doesnt remove the wax at all . but i still touch it up with quick detailer.

I also use this lambswool 1'x1' square that my uncle gave me , he works at a chrysler dealer. He gives me lots of stuff. Jugs of paint sealeant etc. ofcourse im careful what i use on my car. That stuff is made to go on chrysler cars. Who knows paint requirements could be different and could ruin my paint.

Im new to these boards . But i have been reading them for a while now . Keep up the great work everyone.

Juan has a gallon bottle of zymol shampoo! lucky little p#@*! That thing retails at $70 + dollars. he also gave me about 10 ounces of it, so i cant hate. We both being legend lovers and detailing newbies both got Meguires Gold Class shampoo. On this board, for the price, its second to none. I also like the other line of gold class products, i swear by the liquid wax.

I've tried them all and I can now add NxT car wash to the list - and nothing has left my finish feeling slick like 4* Platinum Auto wash - my hard water is no match for it and the smelllll..........meee likey a lot a lot a lot-

I like Meg's Gold Class.....Cheap and works well for me.
I primarily use Gold Class too. It's a very good shampoo at an excellent price point (when purchased in the gallon size). I like Sonax Gloss Shampoo and Tropi-Care Premium Car Wash better, but they are much more expensive than Gold Class.

I'm using BMW Autowash , orangish liquid, some have commented it as sonax rebranded as BMW doesn't make detail products. Good stuff, lotssss of suds, good lubricity although the smell is nothing to shout about .It's cheap as well, USD7++ for a 1 litre. It can afford to be cheap I guess because BMW buys in BULK. Found the perfect shampoo imho ;) (for now :lol)

Pinnacle's wash is my fav with Detailer's Pride's wash a close second and priced very well.

hdsalinas,

I've been using some cheap gallon size Turtle Wax car wash too. It was hanging around in my basement so I use it. Its not even half gone yet, so I probably won't be switching anytime soon. Bill D is right on the money about trying different products being one of the most fun parts about detailing, but I think carwash is one of the least differentiated products for our cars, so I will be saving my money for other additions to the detailing arsenal. In my experience, getting the proper proportions of soap to water and the type of mitt you use are more important than what brand of car wash you use.
