Hey guys,

My new jet blakc 328i is scheduled for a early january delivery. I ran my own detaing buiz. durring highschool and feel that i am a pretty damn good detailer. I have asked BMW to leave all of the plastic on the car when i get it deliverd so that there damn monkeys dont scrach my brand new black paint. I come to you all with my plan of action

1. remove plastic

2. 3m adhesive remover using m/f to remove cosmoline where nessasary

3. Full clay with new claybar and detail spray

4. Polish with SSR1 using cyclo and blue clyco pads

5. RMG with PC and Blue pad

6. 3 coats #16 by hand

so what do you guys think? should i go with a stronger polish? Use a diffrent wax? Im brining the car back to school where i wont have much time to detail, Any sugestions on sealants or more longer lasting waxes. Also wondering about the wheels..whats the deal with all these new wheel sealants? if there isnt anythign special they are goign to get #22.

Thanks guys and dont worry i will post pics uppon delivery

I'm no expert, but my girlfriend just picked up a brand new Nissan Frontier (black) and it was so clean and smooth I just washed, QD'd and applied FMJ. No need to polish. Claying your new car would be beneficial for rail dust, but not quite sure if you will need a polish. There might not be any swirls to polish out yet. :nixweiss But then again, I'm no expert, I'm sure they (the experts) will chime in soon. Congrats on your new car!

I'm not sure the polishing step is required. If you want to bring the paint over the top, you might be able to get a little more out of the paint with a good polish, but do you want to give up that bit of clearcoat? I'd say wait 6 months or a year before you do your first polish.

And by all means make sure you have in writing that they will not touch the paint. BMW dealers around here use scrub brushes!

Hey, congrats on the new car. I'm a fellow jet black 2007 328 owner. Welcome to the fun world of needing to wash your car every week! ;) I doubt you'll need to polish. I asked the dealer not to detail mine, and when I picked it up it was in perfect shape...no micro marring or swirlies.

I just took delivery of a Jet Black 2007 328 that had Auto Armor applied by the dealer. Made the mistake of using Mr. Clean AutoDry and now have water marks on the trunk. So need to do a detail. What products have you other Jet Black BMW owners found to be effective?

I picked-up my 328 coupe two weeks ago; there were very few swirls so I skipped this step and went to a mild cleaner.

I would suggest a different wax, but you are right on with the ssr1, xmt1, OP, OPS, and #80 are also great.

If you were using the #16 for the durability, collinite 915 (Marque de` Elegance) looks (imo) better and lasts longer.

Oh yea, RMG is awesome!

I think you made a mistake of taking delivery of a Jet Black BMW. It is a very very demanding color to maintain and keep looking good.

I own a 2008 black 328i convertible....bobross when you get around to it get PETE's 53 from CG. The paint is a metalic black and that is the wax I use to make the flake pop bigtime, I tried other waxes but this gives me the best bang for my buck. I also love Fuzion but that is a different story for another day

....this thread is over two years old and gaudi8 hasn't been active since then. ;)

btw, I'm on my third black car and wouldn't hesitate to buy this color again. :)
