Brand New 2006 RAV4 Black needing help

Hi guys, I have a brand new Toyota Rav4 sitting on my driveway, and I've washed it and waxed it with Megs Gold Class liquid wax. And I'm not getting anywhere near the quality I want on the paintjob.

I am really jealous of those beautiful detailing work I see around the forum. I really need help on how to get started.

If possible, I'd like to try to keep the budget at a minimal right now. I don't mind purchasing some new detailing products and little equipments, but I'd like to stay away from any huge investments like the PC or pressure washers for now.

Thanks a bunch guys.

Claybar. Clay Clay Clay!

For something affordable, check out the Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit. It comes with the Quick Detailer (For Lubricant), 2 50g bars of clay, a 4 oz. bottle of cleaner wax, and a MF towel for $16.99. You'll see the results. Take it from me or anyone on here.

If you aren't aware, claybar is used for removing minor oxidation and bonded contaminants from the paint. You will probably be surprised at what comes off of your paint.

Welcome! Congrats on the new vehicle. Here is my take: You can start by hand, but eventually your going to get big (hard) by the detailing bug. When that happens you will be looking for a pc. I would reccomend purchasing a kit from our sponsers that comes with the pc, and a nice arrangments of wash, polish, sealant, and wax, to make your paint look like you want it to.

Here is an excellent starting point.

Its a little pricey, but I wouldnt reccomend it if it wasnt worth it. Think of it this way. When you get the hang of the pc (pretty quickly Im sure) You can start doing details for friends and family and easily make back your money, even by charging small amounts.

If your not wanting to shell out that amount of money then you might try the ideas listed in this thread:

It will be much harder, and probably wont be as nice as the porter cable detail but Im sure you will be proud of how your new ride looks.
