Guess it's time to tell people we need to clean their rims before they get asbestos poisioning. :D

If brake dust was this bad, wouldn't every soccer mom with brake dust coverred wheels be dead by now from some form of cancer?

I did some searches about 6 months ago on brake dust, what I found was very interesting. This was for my own personal knowledge and not work related (although it did help to know some things). The brake pad compositon is held together by some form of adhesive. As the pads wear the brake dust is a combination of brakes pads, rotors, and the adhesive left behind. The adhesive used in most pads is acidic when wet. Yes, I found this info in many places.

So check this out, you know have build up on your wheels that is acidic when wet. Ya know those idiots that don't ever wash the dust off, rinse their cars, drive through multiple rain storms, etc, guess how much damage is being done to the wheels. Then they clean the wheels with an acidic cleaner, and bam, the problem just multiplies.

Brake dust is harmful, acidic, etc., but the pads today are alot less harmful than the old abestos pads. I personally prefer to use high performance pads made in a way that is less harmful and acidic, but much more costly. Eh, I thought I would just toss in the info I have came acrossed.
