Boyce Auto Detailing - 2014 Chevy SS, Opti-Coat PRO

Hey everyone! 


I had the opportunity to work on this 2014 Chevy SS a few days after the owner took delivery from the dealership. 


The car was driven to me form a hour away and was in for correction and protection. Vehicle went through wash/ decontamination, paint correction and then Opti-Coat PRO. 

Process:

1Z Colourtec on rims 

Tufshine Tire cleaner on wheels 

OPC 3:1 on wheel wells

Initial rise, foam bath with CG Honeydew, rinse, wash with CG Wash and Clear 

Iron-x

Tar-X 

Nanoskin Autoscrub pad (fine) with Nanoskin Glide 7:1 

Dry with air and WW towels 

Paint inspected for defects and trim taped off 

Paint polished using Rupes 21, HD Polish, Rupes white and yellow pads and LC white and black pads

Spot compounding with Rupes LHR75, Rupes yellow MF pad, Rupes Keramic Gloss 

IPA wipe down

Opti-Coat applied to all exterior paint and trim 

Aquapel applied to all exterior glass

Opti-Bond tire gel on wheels. 

303 Aerospace on all interior surfaces

303 Wiper blade treatment 

Ultimia WW+ on door jambs/trunk jamb

Checked the temperature of the surface to make sure it was safe to apply Opti-Coat PRO, it was about 10 degrees outside.

Bad ass car! And how nice of the dealer to give the owner complementary buffer trails and scratches. Nice job bringing it back! 


 


Is the clear soft like the G8s and GTO's?

Yeah it was fairly soft, nothing to crazy, but not hard by any means. Tried OC primer on it and it stuck to it like it was Subaru paint.

Yeah it was fairly soft, nothing to crazy, but not hard by any means. Tried OC primer on it and it stuck to it like it was Subaru paint. 

 


Primer polish- We use Megs ultimate wipes to remove. See if Kevin Brown at www.buffdaddy.com has any in stock. We have been using rupes yellow foam w primer polish for the most part. It "can be" a PITA to wipe away, IMO if its worked longer, wipe away should be easier. Always check with fenix type LED light to make sure all residual is wiped away prior to coating. After the polishing step is completed we go around the car with a fresh Meg's ultimate wipe and check all areas with lighting. <span style="font-size:14px;">
