around $90 bucks with the Home Depot Coupon

Now my Question is, Where can I buy Accessories / Pads for my Portal Cable?

Maybe some velcro backplate, meguiars pads? What are some good pads to buy?, maybe a site that sells a combo of them?

I would suggest that you take a look at the Edge 2000 pad system. I've switched over to it recently and have really liked it.

Congratulations on your purchase! I get all my pads/plates from www.exceldetail.com .

I'd suggest getting the 5inch backing plate for the Propel Pads, and the 6inch plate for the Propel2 pads. I believe Patrick has pad and plate kits, but right now he's out of some pads.

anyone, know of any sites?

if i were you i would do some searching on this forum and other forums and see who use what and why also were they purchase there pads...by the way size you may want is around 5.5 up to 6.5in..almost each site offer there own pad even though some may be manufactured from the same place..but the have there own feature...if i were to suggest a pad another member may not like it and will tell you a different one but thats not the case it what you would like in the long run...i would definately either try sonus line although i have not used them or from any of the sponsor here..good luck on your search...if you need any help i like many other are willing to help you out but first do some reading and then pm....hope that helps...Good Luck...And Congrats on the PC..... :bigups

To also add, SFX pads are what I ended up going with after a few days of skimming this forum and archives. I would have done Propel Pads from Exceldetail but they're TOS right now and SFX will do well. I spent a nice amount of time looking at the Edge system too.

If you do the SFX pads, use the 15% off coupon at autopia-carcare

If you do the Edge2000 System, use the 10% off coupon I PMed you for Autogeek

Not sure about discounts for Excel but then again, they're TOS :(

If you're doing a velcro-style back plate (basically Non-Edge), just make sure it's a flex back plate.

Cheers,

GMCloud

Ahhhh....Great.... :bawling: I just realized there's a Page 2 on their pads page...The P2 pads are not TOS with the exception of the Orange pads.... Well guess I'll see how the SFX do :/

I just bought me the same one as yours, theone. Can you use the polish pad that comes with the buffer? Or is it necessary to buy the pads?

the pad that comes with it, seems to be very hard, I think we both need to buy like a set of pads (orange/whites/black)

I like Patrick's pads (currently my favorite pads, plus Patrick always gets you what you need) from www.exceldetail.com I would suggest his orange and green pads. I also have some white and orange Lake Country pads. You can get them almost anywhere.

www.danase.com - Bob is great to deal with. Lake Country Pads

www.pakshak.com - Good place to shop at they have Lake Country Pads too (they sell my fav microfiber towels)

www.autogeek.net - Lak Country Pads here too also they have Meg's pads too.

www.autopia-carcare.com - Lake Country Pads and Sonus pads.

After using several different pads I like Patrick's Pads with the LC ones coming in second. I have yet to try my meg pads though.

I think im going to buy from exceldetail

what colors should I start out with?

P2 Pad Sampler Kit sounds nice, but its out of stock

are the p2s better than the first ones on there page?

Ditch that white thing..............

The stocker "White Thing" works great on plastic headlight lenses with some Mothers Plastic Polish. Or some glass polish on it for getting out some minor glass etching / staining.

theOne, I too am now going to order from Exceldetail since I'm STILL waiting from autopia-carcare for my pads....... (Angry) not to mention I would like a better range of pads rather than just the three (Orange and Yellow are much nicer). I'm going to e-mail Patrick about the availability of the Orange Pads. The only reason why the kits are TOS are due to those pads. If anything, I'll order the yellow white and blue.

A question though to everyone: I havn't looked too closely yet but how compatible are the backing plates from Sonus (The Flexplate) with LC or Propel Pads?

Thanks for the help! :)

I have used P1's with great success on a variety of vehicles. I have yet to test the P2's but I like them a bit better because they aren't recessed.

Personally, I would get:

P1, P2 and 4" turbo pads (all colors)

5, 3 and 6" Backing plates

That should give you a good variety of pads for different situations.

OR

P2 Sampler pack

6" backing plate

P1 finishing pad (unless your going to apply your LSP by hand)

Good luck!

wow, still havent gotten your pads?

are you gonig to get the P1'S or P2's?

Nope,; They took 4 days to process the order (yet the second order from them I made about 3 hours later was shipped the next day *~11PM*) and said to be shipped Friday; FL Priority takes 2 days so by tomorrow I should have them. Now to see if there's a return policy...

As for the Propel Pads, I'm going with the P2's

the0ne,

I spoke to Patrick today and he will be looking at a possible new product for his Propel Line this week that is going to have a flat top but same as the P2's. I just placed my order and ended up going with the P1's Orange and Yellow since I'm going to wait until he gives the "ok" on the new pads. The P1's are nice since they're just a flat top rather than the VC pads of the P2's. I hope this helps a little!

Cheers,
